Sharing my top secrets to making this classic dessert at home!
A few days ago a friend texted me asking what she should make her mom for Mother's Day dessert this year. She went on to tell me she's hoping for something she can make well in advance, because she's working the days leading up to her Mother's Day celebration. And she doesn't want the stress of last-minute baking.
This New York cheesecake was my first thought! It's a classic dessert everyone loves, and can be made days, weeks, or even months in advance! It's divine on its own, but heaven when topped with whipped cream and strawberries.
Here's why you'll love it:
Make-ahead friendly (up to 2 months if you freeze it)
Creamy yet dense, it has that "classic" NY cheesecake texture
Tangy yet sweet flavor
Delicious with strawberry sauce and whipped cream
Perfect for spring celebrations like Mother's Day!
Since Mother's Day is only 3 weeks away, we'll be focusing on seasonally appropriate recipes and menus in the upcoming newsletters! If you have any requests, just respond to this email and I'll be happy to help. Xx - Ashley
"Perfect cupcakes! Fluffy, moist and not overly sweet. I usually make them with vegan ganache icing (chocolate chips, coconut oil and almond milk). I didn’t have any of the minimalist gf flour blend left, so I subbed bob’s red mill 1:1 gf flour and it turned out great!"

"I just discovered this recipe a few weeks ago and already have made it countless times. These are the fluffiest, most delicious muffins. They truly taste like chocolate cupcakes. I use spelt flour instead of the gf blend and they turn out great. Thanks for the amazing recipe!"

herb spotlight: parsley🌱
Parsley is one of the easiest and most rewarding herbs to grow, and it instantly elevates everyday cooking with its fresh, clean flavor. Having a steady supply on hand makes it simple to finish dishes with a pop of color and brightness, whether you’re cooking quick weeknight meals or something more special.
You can grow parsley just about anywhere. For containers, use a pot with good drainage, place it in a sunny spot (about 6 hours of light), and keep the soil consistently moist but not soggy. It’s perfect for patios, balconies, or even a kitchen windowsill.
If you’re planting in a garden or raised bed, parsley prefers well-drained soil and cooler temperatures, making spring an ideal time to start. Space plants about 6–8 inches apart and harvest regularly to keep it producing.
To get the most from your plant, always cut the outer stems first and avoid taking more than one-third of the plant at a time. Regular trimming encourages fuller growth and prevents it from becoming leggy.
In the kitchen, parsley is incredibly versatile. Stir it into garlic butter for bread or seafood, toss it with roasted potatoes, sprinkle over grilled chicken or fish, mix into pasta salads, or fold into grain bowls and rice dishes.
"My daughter made it tonight but without chicken since she's a vegetarian. I was delicious! Thank you! She said next time she would add a bit of fresh crushed garlic and a bit more lemon. It's all subjective on how much garlic and lemon we like. We used to have a pizza place that made Chicken Francaise pizza and my daughter's fave pizza. Sadly they closed.
