Jeju Island's natural beauty is enjoyed by millions of visitors annually. During this global pandemic, South Korean domestic tourism has seen a spike in the popularity of outdoor destinations. While you may not be able to come to Jeju Island yet, we would like to share a few of our favorite public parks for your consideration when planning a future trip here.
This neighborhood park is located by the sea and is perfect for exploring. From the observatory you can view Seopseom Island straight ahead and Seogwipo Port and Munseom Island to your right. After the sun sets, the park's lamps illuminate the area so you can enjoy the various works of art and sculptures on display, even at night.
Chilsimni Poetry Park is a large, peaceful park in downtown Seogwipo that is primarily used by locals for exercise and to appreciate the magnificent view of Hallasan Mountain to the north. The walking paths are well laid out and along the way you can enjoy the many sculptures, stones inscribed with poetry, and ponds nearby. See if you can catch a glimpse of beautiful Cheonjiyeon Waterfall from here!
This is an ecological park with wooden decks, a walking path and resting spots near Changgocheon Stream. You can enjoy a different perspective of Jeju's nature here, including studying the interestingly shaped trachyte stone cliffs. The sound of the flowing stream will unfailingly accompany you on your journey through the unique natural environment of Jeju.
This downtown park boasts a wide open lawn surrounded by tall trees and pretty flower beds. Families and retirees also make use of the sports areas, including badminton, gateball, and foot volleyball courts. And, of course, there is a kids' playground. In the area are a number of famous landmarks, like Samseonghyeol Shrine, the Jeju Folklore & Natural History Museum, the Jeju Culture and Arts Center, and a street famous for its aggregation of noodle soup restaurants.
