Everybody loves Everything Bagel Seasoning, which includes the flavors of onion, garlic, and sesame, and it's so easy to make yourself! My daughter got some for me a few years ago and then, of course, I ran out. I don't live close to the store where she bought it, so I decided to de-construct it and make some myself. It wasn't too shabby. Having made it a few times now, I have tweaked it to my family's liking, and because I've run out of it again, I'm going to share the way I make it with you today.
Here is the recipe as I made it:
Everything Bagel Seasoning
Mix together in a small bowl:
1 Tablespoon poppy seeds
1 Tablespoon sesame seeds
1 Tablespoon black sesame seeds
1 heaping Tablespoon dried minced garlic
1 heaping Tablespoon dried minced onion
1 Tablespoon kosher salt
Put mix into a container with a "sprinkle" top.
Done! That's it! So easy!
This seasoning really is ridiculously easy to make. If you like more of an ingredient - just add more of it or add whatever you like in this.
Just mix it all together and it's done!
I keep the glass containers that other spices come in, wash them out, and re-use them for mixes like this. Use a funnel to get every bit in there.
Snap on the shaker lid and that's it!
You can use this seasoning in so many ways - on popcorn, eggs, dips, potatoes - the list is endless, but one of my favorite ways to use it is on avocado toast. I use a half of an avocado, mash it onto toast with a fork, give it a little squeeze of lime, and shake on the seasoning.
This is so good and I love it for breakfast OR a snack. I really hope you try to make this seasoning yourself - it's so easy to do. If you ever run out of it, you can just make a batch yourself! What do you like to sprinkle Everything Bagel Seasoning on?
