Generally, it was a smooth and tiring journey.

It is pretty convenient for me because I am staying on the east side of Singapore. I got out of the house and took the public transport bus as scheduled in the app. The journey from my home to Changi Airport Terminal 1 took about 20 minutes.

At Changi Airport Terminal One

I waited at counter 12 (MAS check-in counter) around 12.15PM. My flight was at 2.30PM. The queue was pretty long. The man in front of me seemed quite 'kelam kabut' (dark fog) because he has not filled up the MySafeTravel form. It seems to be required for all travellers (Malaysians or foreigners) entering Malaysia.

An additional thing to fill up was a form that indicated if you have all the documents ready such as the PCR test result, the mySejahtera app installed and an on-arrival PCR test voucher. EVERYTHING WENT SMOOTHLY once I filled up the form and waited for my turn. I was even able to jump the queue as some others are having difficulties uploading their PCR result and vaccination QR codes. There was plenty of staff helping those who were stuck.

I needed to scan my passport and print out my boarding pass at the self-service kiosk. I did not have any baggage for check-in, so my process was quick. A ground staff assisted me too. A quick picture of my boarding pass.

I did not ask anyone to send me off at the airport, but it would be great if someone was there. It gives me the feeling that someone is waiting for me to be back soon. It was Monday noon, it could be possible if you want to have lunch at the airport. I think watching many dramas. Sending off at your doorstep or at the taxi stand is fine too.

It would be even better when travelling with one or more people. My flight is a VTL flight, and that meant I had to wait for my on-arrival PCR test result before I could leave the airport. So, to be with a friend is good to keep each other accompanied.

Hello Departure Gate. It has been 2.5 years since I last travelled to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

I cleared the immigration check and took my light lunch before walking to the designated gate at 1.20PM. Many people were waiting too. My flight was at 2.30PM.

At KLIA, Malaysia

My flight took off on time and landed 15 minutes ahead of schedule at KLIA. No issues were waiting and queuing up to disembark from the aircraft. My flight was the only VTL flight in this area, so we just followed each other to the PCR test area.

I am unsure if the procedures remained the same after March 15 because some posts said that the travellers were not required to stay in the airport for the result. They could continue their journey, and the result would be WhatsApp and email to the recipient.

As for my case, I travelled before March 15; therefore, I waited for 2.5 hours after taking the PCR test for my result. I was in the queue for the PCR test around 4PM. I was given the blue band when I was in the PCR test area. The staff took both oral and nasal tests.

At 6.20PM, I left the area and proceeded to the immigration counter. There were two different queues, the non-VTL and the VTL queue. Obviously, the non-VTL queue was shorter. Thankfully, the officers were efficient in doing their jobs. My new passport has gotten a rubber stamp with VTL signed. It could be a memorable one.

Took KL Transit to KL Sentral

It used to have both KLIA Express and KL Transit lines; however, the KLIA express service has been terminated. Maybe, it was due to the COVID-19 situation, fewer tourists and demands. The journey took 40 minutes to reach KL Sentral. I arrived at KL Sentral at 7.30PM. I did not have much time to explore this area. I rushed to catch up with my brother, waiting to pick me up. It was my pleasure to get him to pick me up that day.

Unable to have dinner at Jalan Peel

We wanted to get the pork soup as dinner; however, it was closed on Mondays. I hope I can try it one day next time.

168 claypot chicken rice, Pudu

We settled down at Pudu for chicken rice. It was 8PM. Hungry!

Charcoal cooked claypot rice with chicken, Chinese sausages and salted fish topping. Dark soya sauce was enough to cover the rice, and my claypot was not overly burned (the layer of crisp rice on the bottom of the pot, fan jiu in Cantonese) as some other people mentioned in the Google review.

Handcrafted by experienced hands of 2nd generation Cantonese chef family of fame in this part of old KL. His mastery over 40 years shows up in a delightful serving of fragrant rice with yummy charred bits and succulent chicken breast marinated to its peak.

Home Sweet Home

Finally, I got home. I need to adjust to a few lifestyles or habits when I am in Malaysia. First and foremost, shower with cold water. Lucky enough, these days, the weather was scorching; thus, I was able to have some "warm" water direct from the water tank.

My bathroom is old-fashioned; it is without a showerhead. The best picture to describe it is below.

The first thought in my mind when I took my shower was it should have a stool next to it so that I could sit and take my bath. Maybe, it is a good idea for us; no need to stand and bathe.

Sleep Time

The second adjustment was my house is not air-conditioned. As mentioned earlier, this was a scorching week; thus, I could not immediately fall asleep. So, I took Anna to sleep with me. The third adjustment was the noise level in this area because my house is near the mosque. I could hear the prayer at 6AM.

After unpacking my luggage and resting, I started to leave some text messages to a few people that knew I was travelling back to Malaysia. I wanted to inform them that I went home safely. The "drama-dream" on when I was texting these people. I was hoping someone would call me via WhatsApp and chat for a while.

I went to have a quick chat with my aunt before I went to bed. I will share the picture of Anna in my next post. She is my best friend at home, always accompanying me around.
