Guang Ji Ho Fun

[Non-halal] Jalan San Peng is Pudu is a food haven for many, but this was our first time trying the famous Guang Ji Ho Fun & Chicken Rice here.

Our favourite stall on this street is actuall the San Peng Prawn mee located a few doors away.

We love the prawn mee noodles as the clear broth is made from pure prawn shells and heads, with chilli only added after serving (see our post here).

In any case - we heard many great things about this kai si hor fun (noodles with shredded chicken and prawns) and finally decided to check this place out.

Kai Si Hor Fun is one of our favourite noodles dishes - and we have tried many spots in the Klang Valley (check out our favourites at the end of this post).

Guang Ji often shows up on our social media radar, so we finally tried the noodles here a few weeks back.

We arrived at 1pm on Sunday to find the place packed, with most of the items sold out by then - including the popular braised pork and tofu, char siew and siew yoke.

Nevertheless, we managed to secured an order of kai si hor fun and the last plate of chicken rice.

Hor Fun was alright

Honestly, while we thought the Kai Si Hor Fun was above average, it is not the best we've eaten in the Klang Valley.

While found the broth to be clean-tasting with chicken essence, we wished it had kick from the savoury prawns.

The noodles were decently smooth - but not the smoothest in town, and the prawns, albeit fresh, were not the juiciest we've eaten.

On the other hand, we were really pleased with the chicken rice.

The steamed chicken breast was extremely smooth and tender, and the soy sauce marinade had a good balance of sweetness and savouriness.

The beansprouts here are also plump and rivals some of the best in Ipoh.

Summary

Guang Ji Ho Fun

If you're in the area and craving for decent kai si hor fun, this place is worth a stop. However, it is far from the best we've eaten in the Klang Valley.

We were more pleased with the chicken rice and beansprouts.
