昨日、ガトウィック空港からテネリフェの空港にスケジュールより30分ほど短い３時間４０分のフライトで到着し、予約していたタクシーでホテルに無事到着しました、30分の距離でした。途中の景色は、カリフォルニアを思い出す感じの景色でした。
Luckily the flight from Gatwick to Tenerife South was shorter than scheduled by 30 minutes or so, it was 3 hours and 40 mminutes. We had booked a taxi, which took us to the hotel, it took about 30 mminutes. The scenery on the way reminded me of California.
今回、テネリフェを選んだのは、単純に知り合いが行ったところだったから。香港とシンガポールに住んでいた時に散々アジアのビーチリゾートには行ったので行き飽きたと思っていたのですが、あのビーチリゾートの雰囲気が恋しくなったのと、雨ばかりの寒いイギリスから少しの間脱出したかったのですが、長距離フライトに乗るのは避けたかったので4、5時間で行ける暖かいところというと思っていたほどチョイスがなく、ギリシャなどもこの時期は結構寒いようだったので、テネリフェにしました。
We thought we'd been to beach resorts while we were living in Hong Kong and Singapore so many times and were tired of them but we started missing them. We also wanted to have a break from the cold and wet English winter weather. We didn't want to fly more than 4 or 5 hours and wanted it to be warm enough, so Tenerife seemed like a good choice, To be honest we don't know much about resorts we can go to from England and our neighbour has been to Tenerife so we thought it should be nice enough.
ホテルは夫が色々と調べれくれて、Gran Melisa Palacio de Isora というホテルの中の十六歳以下の子供が入れないレッド・レベルに予約を入れました。入口も他の部分とは別になっていて、ドアを開けるとラウンジがあり、ラウンジ内かすぐ外のテラスでカヴァをいただきながらチェックインができます。
As for the hotel, my husband did some research and thought this hotel Gran Melisa Palacio de Isora looked good and we booked a room in their "Red Level", where no children under 16 are allowed in. They have their own gate, and when you get in the gate it's a lounge of Red Level, where you can check in with a glass of Cava on the terrace.

チェクインを済ませた後、ちょうどお昼時だったのでお部屋に入る前にランチをいただきました。ホテルには8つのレストランがあるのですが、全部がオープンしているわけではなく、日にちごとにオープンしているレストランが違って、この日のランチにオープンしていたのはメキシカンレストランと地中海料理レストランの2つ。昨日は、地中海料理に行きました。
After checking in we had lunch before getting in the room. There are 8 restaurants in the hotel but not all are open at one time, only 2 were open for lunch yesterday - Mexican and Mediterranean and we decided to try Mediterranean.
夫は、シーザーサラダのチキン入り、美味しいと言っていました。
My husband had Caesar Salad with chicken, which he said he enjoyed.
わたしは前菜からガスパチョとイベリコハムの2皿。ですが、量が多くて、とても前菜の量ではなかったです。ガスパチョはとても美味しかったです。
I chose Gazpacho and Iberico Ham from the starters, but they were both huge, I had a half of each. Just one starter would have been enough.
