Just like its predecessor, Quest is an action packed book. From the get go, a lot of things happened and it doesn't stop.
In this book, Merrin Meredith is back with a vengeance. Or so he thought. He had plans to Darken Septimus' destiny. But like the bumblingbfool he is, he manages to screw that up as well. But, a sudden twist in the plot still had Septimus going on the dreaded Queste. Together with Jenna and Beetle, they embarked on a journey to The House of Foryx in hopes of finding Nicko and Snorri. And unknowingly, the journey they took happened to be the very Queste Septimus was meant to take. So all's well that ends well, right? Well…you better read the book to gind that out.
This is the second tme I read the book. I was pretty surprised because I had a general idea of what the book is about. But as I was reading it, it turned out that most of the events I remembered did not happen in this book. In fact, they happened in the next book, Syren. I guess my memory got the two books mixed up because they were very similar in plot. Not to mention the foreshadowing of the fate of one Syrah Syara.
Anyway, despite my confusion, it's still an amazing read. Like I said, it was action packed and the resourcefulness of the character showed. I was really happy that Beetle was put in the spotlight. His knowledge and know how really came in handy. And it was really nice to see him have more interaction with Jenna. It adds that much needed romantic distraction in a series like this. And the addition of that little romance proves that the kids are growing up and are well into their teen years.
After I read this, I thought that the series was over. Because it took a couple of years before the next book came out. I'm glad I was wrong in that regard. Septimus still has a lot to offer and there are still a bunch of easter eggs and questions that needed answering.
