In the intricate tapestry of life, there are no mere coincidences. Instead, we are blessed with divine appointments orchestrated by God Himself. These moments serve as delicate threads carefully woven together, connecting us to people, opportunities, and experiences with purpose and meaning. They are not random encounters but intentional connections guided by the loving and omniscient hand of God.
Just as a skilled weaver creates a tapestry, God weaves together the events of our lives. The front of the tapestry, with its intricate design and beauty, represents the divine appointments we are meant to see and admire. It reminds us of the truths found in Romans 8:28, that God uses every event in our lives for good.
Corrie Ten Boom's timeless poem, "The Master Weaver's Plan," beautifully illustrates this concept:
My life is but a weaving
Between my God and me.
I cannot choose the colors
He weaveth steadily.
Oft' times He weaveth sorrow;
And I, in foolish pride,
Forget He sees the upper,
And I the underside.
Not 'til the loom is silent,
And the shuttles cease to fly,
Will God unroll the canvas
And reveal the reason why.
The dark threads are as needful
In the weaver's skillful hand,
As the threads of gold and silver
In the pattern He has planned.
He knows, He loves, He cares;
Nothing this truth can dim.
He gives the very best to those
Who leave the choice to Him.
During her presentations, Corrie Ten Boom would hold up the back side of a blue cloth of embroidery, filled with hundreds of tangled threads hanging down. Many in the audience wondered if she had made a mistake, holding up the wrong side. But as Corrie held up the messy side of the embroidery, she would explain, "Does God always grant us what we ask for in prayers? Not always. Sometimes He says, 'No.' That is because God knows what we do not know."
With anticipation, Corrie would then flip the cloth over, unveiling the right side of the embroidery. Triumphantly, she revealed an extravagantly embroidered crown, symbolizing our crown of eternal life. The crown was beautifully stitched with threads of many colors, as well as gold, silver, and pearls. In that moment, she would explain, "[In our lives] we see the wrong side, but God sees His side all the time. One day we shall see the embroidery from His side and thank Him for every answered and unanswered prayer."
These words remind us that our limited perspective often prevents us from understanding God's greater plan. We may only see the tangled threads and chaos in our lives, but God sees the masterpiece He is creating. He weaves together moments of joy, sorrow, answered prayers, and unanswered prayers to form a tapestry that reflects His love and purpose.
As we embrace these divine appointments with gratitude and awe, we can trust that God is working all things together for our ultimate good and His glory. Even when our prayers seem unanswered or our lives appear tangled, we can have faith that God's side of the tapestry holds a beautiful picture that we will one day see and understand.
So, as we encounter these divine appointments, let us praise Jesus, the Master Weaver, and give Him the glory. Through His wisdom and guidance, He shapes each thread and intertwines them to create a tapestry that reflects His love and purpose. May we navigate the tapestry of life with unwavering faith, knowing that He is orchestrating every thread for our good and His ultimate glory.
In awe of His craftsmanship, let us celebrate the divine appointments that illuminate our journey. They are reminders of God's presence and the incredible care our Heavenly Father has for us. May we always be guided by faith, trusting in His plan and embracing every divine appointment that comes our way. 🙏✨
