今日は、サウスハンプトンにあるショッピングモール「Westquay」に行って来ました。目的は、主に靴。この辺りには Zara もユニクロもないですし、Marks & Spencer の規模も小さいですしあまりお買い物らしいお買い物が出来ないため着るものはネットでオーダーすることも多いのですが、靴はネットでオーダーする気にならず色々履いて決めたいのです。元々、外反母趾もあったりでなかなか合う靴が見つからないので必要にならないと買わないのですが、４月の旅行に必要な靴もあり今のうちに買って履き慣らしておきたかったので早めに買いたかったのです。
We went to a shopping mall, "Westquay" in Southampton, mainly to buy shoes but also to see other items if we have time. As there is no Zara or Uniqlo around here and Marks & Spender isn't very large, we cannot do much shopping so I tend to order quite a lot online but I don't like to order shoes online, I feel I need to try them on where there are variety of them. I have some problem with my feet and find it very hard to find the right shoes, so I don't buy them until I'm pressed, but I wanted to get a new pair to take on our holiday in April and wanted to break them in in advance.
幸い、思っていたものが見つかって３足買いました。夫もこの２年ほど履いていた靴がダメになったので（夫は車の運転をするからだと思いますが、結構靴が破れます）新しい靴を探していて、やはり思っていたものが見つかって２足買いました。車で１時間かかるところまで行った甲斐がありました。他にも色々みたいと思っていましたが、わたしは靴だけで終了。夫は他にも少しだけ買っていました。
Luckily, I did find 3 pairs that I am happy with so got them all. A pair of my husband's shoes (a type that look smart enough but comfortable to walk in) got ripped the other day, I guess it's because he drives in them, his shoes tend to get ripped on the side and we were hoping we can find some for him as well - and we did, he found 2 pairs that he liked. I'm glad our trip was productive as it takes us an hour to get there. I wish I had more time so I can look other things but we sort of run out of energy although my husband did find a few other things.
まずは、ランチ。「Bill's」に行きました。
Before shopping, we had lunch at "Bill's".
今日はブランチメニューからビッグ・イングリッシュブレックファーストにしてみました。わたしは目玉焼きは１つだけにしていただきましたが、本来は２つつきます。これならまずくはないだろう、と思ってオーダーしたのですが、とほほ。全然塩胡椒せずにや作っているようで、ポテトとトマトと卵は味がない（まぁ、上からかければOKですが）、トマトはほとんど焼かれていない、トーストはしんなり、そしてソーセージは臭みが強くて食べられず（夫は平気）。多分、早い時間から作ってオーブンでキープしているのだろうと思われるものでした。残念。
We ordered "Big English Breakfast" (I asked them to give me just one fried egg rather than 2). I thought it was a very safe choice, who can mess it up? Apparently people do. Everything was cooked without seasoning - which isn't a disaster in this case as we could just put some on, but tomatoes needed more cooking (very watery and no taste). Toasts were soggy and sausages were very strongly gamy (my husband is fine with it but I couldn't eat it). It all seemed stale, I guess they cook them (except the eggs) early and keep them in the oven. So sad that even this isn't tasty enough.
Bill's はチチェスターにもあって、店内の内装は素敵なのです。でも、食べるものがダメすぎて（涙）。そして、チチェスターはサービスは良いのですが、ここはとても無愛想でした。
There is "Bill's" in Chichester as well and I do like their style of interior but their food is just too bad. At least people are very nice in Chichester's. Here, they were very unsmily.
