Mediterranean Holiday / Day 3 / Dinner On The Ship

夕食の時間までブログをして、その後はのんびりと過ごし、7時半ごろに「The Restaurant」に行きました。先ほども書きましたがレストランは4つあり、2つは事前予約が必要、1つはビュッフェでもう1つが「The Restaurant」というレストランで、ここは予約は入れられませんが広いので大抵あまり待たずに入れるそうです。

I did some blogging in the afternoon, then just did this and that relaxing until dinner time. We left our room around 7:30 for the dinner and went down to "The Restaurant". As I wrote previously, there are 4 restaurants on the ship. 2 of them need to book a table in advance, 1 is a buffet and the other is "The Restaurant", which doesn't accept booking in advance but large enough to accommodate you most of the time without making you wait very long.

I saw some music played downstairs on our way to the restaurant.

レストランは、かなり広いレストランでした。お客さんはアメリカ人がほとんどなので早めに夕食をする人が多く、既に多くのテーブルが埋まっていましたが、まだまだ空いているテーブルもありました。

The restaurant was very large and it looked like a large number of tables were occupied already as the majority of the people on board are Americans and they tend to eat early. However there were also many unoccupie tables, too.

夫もわたしも赤ワインをいただきました。ハウスワインは無料(料金に込み)ですが、正直、あまり頻繁にはワインを持って回っていませんでした。たまたまかもしれませんが、もう少し回って来て欲しいところ。わたしはあまり飲まなかったので少し飲んで夫のグラスに注ぎましたが、2度しか回って来なかったです。ワインの持ち込みは自由なので、明日、バルセロナ市内に行った時に何本か買って来ようかと思っています。

We both had red wine. House wine is free (included in the fee), but to be honest they didn't come around with wine often. I don't know if that will always be the case, but we had only 2 glasses each - though I didn't drink much so I poured most of mine into my husband's so he probably had good 3 glasses. I do wish they came around a little more often. You are allowed to bring in any number of bottles of wine as you like, so we are thinking of getting some when we are in the city centre of Barcelona tomorrow.

夫は、前菜にゴートチーズのスフレをオーダー。重すぎずとても美味しいと言っていました。

My husband had Goat Cheese Souffle for a starter, which he said was light and ver tasty.

わたしは、タパスの盛り合わせのようなものを選びました。ガーリックトーストにセラノハムをのせたもの、ポテトのスペインオムレツ、詰め物をしたオリーブ、タコのマリネ、とあったので、タコはなしでお願いしたのにのってきました(涙)。しかも、お魚や魚介類全般にアレルギーがあることは事前に伝えてもいましたし、オーダーを取るときに聞かれたのでその時にも伝えたのですけどね〜。もちろんすぐにタコなしで新しく盛り付けたものを持ってきてくれました。まぁ、これは、こんなものかな、という感じでしたが、まずくはなかったです。

I ordered Assorted Tapas, which was Serano Ham on Garlic Toast, Potato Omlette, Stuffed Olives & Marinaded Octopus. I asked it without octopus and the lady who took the order repeated but it came with octopus. Hmmm. I have filled special form about allegies to let them know I am intorollent to fish and seafoods, and also as I was asked again at the table I told them the same - and this happens. A bit disappointing, but it is the first day and it was busy. This was just so-so. Not horrible but not great.

夫のメインは、シーバスとチョリソ。美味しかったそうです。

For the main my husband ordered Seabass with Chorizo, he said it was good.

わたしは、タパスの後で妙ですが、四川風スライスビーフと青葱の炒め物とご飯、というのにしてみました。多分、青椒肉絲、かなと思います。「洋」の国での中華は美味しくないことが多いのでどうかなと思いながらオーダーしたのですが、ソースが多すぎるものの、お味は美味しかったです。四川山椒の味は微かにしかしませんでしたが黒胡椒が効いていて、ビーフは臭みなく柔らかく美味しかったです。ご飯がお湯呑みのような小さな入れ物に入ってきたのですが、ビーフ炒めの味が濃い目なので少しのご飯では食べきれず、ご飯は追加をお願いしました。

It is a little strange, I know, but I ordered "Szechuan Style Beef Tenderloin". Chinese food in "western countries" is often disappointing if not inedible so I was a little uneasy but it was actually tasty although there was too much sauce. The beef was tender, not gamy, and the sauce was very tasty. The rice came in a little tea cup and wasn't enough with salty food so I asked for more rice but I actually enjoyed it.

夫のデザートは、サントノーレ。バラバラにしたサントノーレ(笑)でした。キャラメライズしたお砂糖をのせたシューは、1つもらいましたが、美味しかったです。中は空洞。

My husband ordered St. Honore but it was deconstructed! I had oe chu with caramelised sugar, which was nice, but empty inside.

わたしは、クレームカタラナ。これは思っていたのと随分違いました。わたしにはクリーミー過ぎて、ほとんど夫行き。

I tried Creme Catalana. It was quite different from what I thought, too creamy for me, so most of it went to my husband.

ちょっとしたトラブルはありましたが、全体に結構美味しくてホッとしました(笑)。なにしろ、去年の冬に行ったテネリフェのホテルの食事が食べられない不味さだったので、もしあんなだったら、2週間もどうしよう、と思っていたのです。美味しくいただけて、良かった!

So, although there was some problem with the service, over all, the food was tasty. The food at the hotel in Tenerife we stayed at in winter last yer was so bad (I can quite safely say it was mostly inedible), I was quite worried about the food on the ship. If it were as bad as that, I didn't know what to do for 2 weeks! I am very relieved and happy that it was overall good.
