Miami Eats

Lyssy In The City

April 29

Hi friends, welcome back to my Miami series! I hope you aren't hungry because today's post includes everything we ate on our trip. Our first stop after dropping off our bags in Miami was at La Sandwicherie, the most famous sandwich spot in Miami. Jon and I went to the North Beach location on our last trip and knew we had to return. They have a few locations across the city and we went to the South Beach one this time. I always go for the Italian and you can choose your choice of bread between a baguette or croissant. You can never go wrong with a massive sandwich on vacation!

Komodo is a trendy spot in Brickell that we met Jon's coworker and her husband for dinner. It's one of those spots to be seen and hard to get a reservation. We ordered family style and I enjoyed trying out the different dishes. My favorite was the Korean Fried Chicken and the Miso Chocolate Temptation dessert was to die for! We also enjoyed the Duck Lettuce Wraps, Cereal Rock Shrimp, Wagyu Fried Rice, and Miso Chilean Sea Bass. It was a great meal, but pretty pricey.

I had Salt & Straw in Portland and I remembered it being incredible, so Jon and I trekked to the Miami Beach location in the sweltering heat. We didn't realize how massive the scoops were, but we got our moneys worth! I went with the Sea Salt w/ Caramel Ribbons & Salted, Malted, Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough and Jon got the Chocolate Gooey Brownie & Salted, Malted, Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough. We were definitely in an ice cream coma after this! They just announced they are opening two locations in NYC this summer, so I'm sure you'll be seeing Salt & Straw again.

Our favorite coffee spot in Brickell was True Baristas. This cute little coffee truck had delicious lattes and great cold brew. We loved being able to walk to grab coffee in just a shirt and shorts.

I picked up a beef kebob pita from Happea for takeout one night when Jon had a dinner at his event. It got a little soggy by the time I could eat it, but still had some great flavor. I think I probably should've just eaten it there.

While I was checking out the sculpture garden, I grabbed a beef and a chicken empanada from The Empanadas. They were delicious, but I should've gotten more. I gobbled the other up before I could take a picture.

Our final meal in Miami was at Mister O1. Pizza always sounds good to us and we were intrigued by their unique star shaped pizza. We got the Star Luca with ricotta cheese and spicy salami calabrese but our favorite pizza was a limited time collaboration with Miami Heat guard Caleb Martin. It included spicy salami calabrese, Italian sausage, ranch, honey, and black truffle spicy season. The pizza had such a good flavor combination and the perfect way to punctuate the trip.

We thoroughly enjoyed eating our way through Miami! What caught your eye?
