This stall in particular is quite popular with the locals - almost every table had at least an order of this noodle dish.
And we can understand why. For RM8, the koay teow th'ng was generously filled with lots of chicken meat slices, balls, and noodles.
The soup was very tasty - with enough umami from the chicken/pork stock, and made sweeter with the generous garnish of spring onions, crispy pork lard and shallots.
Despite reaching here at 1pm on a Sunday, the bowl arrived promptly as well within 10 minutes.
Penang Lobak is delicious
We also quite enjoyed the Penang lobak offerings at the stall here.
The lobak rolled meat was very fragrant with tender meat, and plenty of five spice powder seasoning. The tofu was also fresh and we enjoyed the pieces with the sweet and chilli condiments.
Cantonese Yin Yong offers value for money
The Cantonese Yin Yong (RM9) from the siew char stall here is quite decent as well.
While we wished it had a bit more wok hei, the gravy was actually quite tasty with the right ratio of egg, starch and seasoning.
The portion here is amazing for RM9 - with lots of noodles, chicken and pork slices, and prawns.
Summary
PJ Old Town remains one of our favourite spots for cheap and delicious Chinese food, and the food here is no exception.
