2 major developments on Amazon.
First, certain food products are available for shipping to Korea. Presumably due to the easing of some import regulations. (Whether related I'm not sure, but newspapers are increasingly reporting that imports from various Chinese websites intended for children - clothing, toys, etc - have been tested to show alarmingly high amounts of toxic substances, which makes me wonder if the import regulations will soon go back to their stricter standards.) But for now, I can get items essential to my repertoire that aren't otherwise readily accessible in local markets.
Second, free shipping to Korea with combined purchase of $50 or more on eligible items. With prices jacked up, the $50 threshold is not difficult to reach.
$84.16
Second time making fish & chips (see most recently 15.029 Fish & Chips (& Shrimp)), with a few improvements based on my recent Amazon haul of goodies.
Same fish as before, the fillets were seasoned with Old Bay Seasoning.
The batter was seasoned with a combination of Lawry's Seasoned Salt and Garlic Salt.
Rather than Tabasco, the tartar sauce was spiked with Hot Ones The Classic Hot Sauce.
Out of beer, I substituted cava.
Excellent. The crust was crispier and flakier (due to the cava), and more flavorful (due to the Lawry's) - moreover, I'd taken my note to self from the last time and deep-fried the fish last, so that they didn't turn limp. The fish was tastier (due to the Old Bay). The tartar sauce was more balanced (due to the hot sauce). Looking forward to next time.
As suggested by guests' reactions on the program Hot Ones (see generally 14.017 Hot Ones: The Pantry Edition), where The Classic Hot Sauce is usually the first in the lineup, it's very balanced, not very spicy, just enough to provide a pleasant kick - "Oh, that's nice."
