Bang Hyoseong's Hansang Charim(방효성의 한상차림) is a Korean restaurant. Specializes in baekban, featuring 1 main dish - the menu offers plus 9 banchan. The name of the place means, literally, "Korean (han) table (table) spread (charim)," Bang Hyoseong being the owner/chef, presumably.
Passed by many times, always busy, piquing my interest, just never finding an opportunity to try it, until tonight. At 19:50 (30 minutes before last order), we arrived to find a full house and a queue (one guy). The manager/owner(?) (Bang Hyoseong?) took our order in advance, so that the food was ready as soon as we were seated at 20:00.
The 7 main dishes are offered on the menu, including jeyuk (stir-fried pork), bossam (steamed pork belly), kodari (broiled pollack), jjuggumi (stir-fried octopus), okdom (deep-fried sea bream), bulgogi (stir-fried beef), miyeok guk (seaweed soup).
The food was great. For the main, I chose the large okdom, which was very nicely crisp and tasty. (W's kodari was the best dish of the spread - to be covered next time.) (IZ's jeyuk was meh - won't be ordered next time.) The banchan, all involving fresh vegetables, were varied and balanced in combination - fun just to sample them all. So good that IZ and I each got an extra bowl of rice.
