昨日から3泊で、デボン州のダートモアにある「Gidleigh Park Hotel」に来ています。３０年くらい、ほぼ毎年1度は泊まっているお気に入りのホテル。わが家から車で4時間ほどかかるので、途中、2時間くらいのところでランチをしました。夫は、プラウマン、わたしはハム・エッグ・チップス。
We are having a short break on Dartmoor in Devon, staying at our favourite hotel "Gidleigh Park" for 3 nights. We've been staying in this hotel almost every year for the past 30 years. It takes us about 4 hours from home by car, so we had a quick lunch In a pub in the middle, my husband had Ploughman's and I had Ham, Egg & Chips.
最後の10分くらいは車1台がやっと通れるような道で、特に夏は両端のヘッジが茂っていてとても走りにくい、前から車が来るとどちらかが車を寄せられるところまで行って譲らなくてはいけないので、緊張しながら走ります。なので、ホテルが見えるとホッとします。
For the last 10 minutes before you get to the hotel is a very narrow lane, just enough for one car, it's particularly narrow in the summer because of the grown hedges so it's a bit tiring to drive and you feel relieved when you see the hotel finally.
わたしたちが住むところではもうあまり見かけないと思うのですが、この辺りでは、たくさん、石楠花を見かけました。
I don't think we see rhodrendrons near where we live any more now but we saw a lot around here yesterday and today, I guess it's a little colder here.
お部屋は、このホテルに泊まり始めた頃によく泊まっていたお部屋、窓からは上の写真にある石楠花が見えます。
Our room this time is the one we used to stay in when we first started to staying here, you see the rhodrendrons I mentioned above from the window.
荷解きをしたら、早速ラウンジでお茶をいただきました。結構人が大勢おられてびっくりしましたが、昨日はいつもより早めの3時過ぎに着いたので、（泊まっておられる方達ではなく、外からいらしている方達）アフタヌーンティーをされている方達でした。わたしたちはアフタヌーンティーをするとディナーがいただけなくなるので、クリームティー（スコーンとお茶）にしました。
After unpacking, we went down to the lounge and had tea. We were surprised how full the lounge was but it was because we arrived earlier than usual, a little after 3:00pm, so the people who were here for an afternoon tea were still there. A full afternoon tea is too much for us as we were going to have a big dinner, so we just had cream tea.
