今日は夕方６時に知り合いのお家に「ドリンクにいらしてください」とお誘いを受けていて伺うことになっていて、ちょっとしたおつまみのようなものは出してくださると思うのですがお腹が空いたところにアルコールを飲みたくないので、遅めのランチにしようということになりました。それで、とても美味しいと聞く「Joanna's Boutique Tearoom」にランチの時間帯にもいただけるアフタヌーン・ティーに行ってみました。少し前にチチェスターの「Joann's Boutique Tearoom」で軽いランチをしましたが、今日は本店の Storrington の方に行きました。内装はチチェスターのお店と良く似ていて、女性っぽい雰囲気。
We are invited to 'drinks' this evening, we will be there from about 6:00pm for, I'm guessing, a couple of hours. I don't like drinking alcohol with empty stomach but it'll be too early to have a meal before that, so we decided to have a late lunch. We expect we'll get nibbles with drinks but this way we don't have to worry about our empty stomach and we won't need dinner after that. I've been wanting to try Afternoon Tea at Joanna's Boutique Tearoom as I hear a lot about them. We'd been to the one in Chichester and had light lunch, which was very good, but this time we went to their main tearoom in Storrington. The decor was very similar to the one in Chichester, very girly.
お茶は、アールグレー、とストロベリーとマンゴーをオーダーして半分ずついただきました。ストロベリーとマンゴーには思っていたものと全然違ってローズヒップが入っていて、色はきれいですがわたしはローズヒップが苦手なのでちょっと残念。暖かい飲み物はどれを何度頼んでもアフタヌーンティーの料金に含まれているそうです。わたしたちは、ので、わたしはアールグレー、夫はカプチーノをオーダーしました。
We ordered Earl Grey and Strawberry & Mango and shared both. Strawberry & Mango wasn't what I expected, it must've had rose hip judging from the colour and the acidity, it looks very pretty but I'm not a big fan of the acidity. The afternoon tea includes as many hot drinks as you like so I later ordered Earl Grey and my husband ordered Cappucino.
アフタヌーンティーは、２段のトレーに出て来ました。下の段はセイボリー系、上の段は甘い系、別にスコーンも後から出て来ます。セイボリーは、サンドイッチ４種類（スモークサーモン、チキンシーザーサラダ、エッグマヨ、ロースト野菜とフムス）、サンドライトマトとペストのキッシュ、ウェルシュ・レアビット、キャラメライズした玉ねぎとソーセージロール、どれもとても美味しかったです！
Afternoon Tea came in this 2 tier tray, the bottom tray had savouries and the top had sweet ones, they also brought scones later. The savoury selection was 4 sandwiches (smoked salmon, chicken caesar salad, egg mayo, roast vegetables & hummous), Sun dried tomato & pesto quiche, Welsh rarebit, Caramelised onion & sausage rolls. They were all delicious!
甘い方は手前から、ストロベリー・レモン・エルダフラワーのパブロワ、ピンクマルガリータ・ポセット、チョコレートと塩キャラメルのプロフィタロール、ピスタチオのマカロン（だと思います。。。）。甘い方はポセットとプロフィタロールをいただいたのですが、プロフィタロールの中のチョコレートのクリームが甘くヘビー、ポセットは多分ヨーグルトが入っているのかな、わたしは苦手な味だったので夫に食べてもらいました。後の２種類は、お持ち帰り。ということで、甘くない方はどれもとても美味しくて大満足、甘い方はわたしは苦手でした。夫は甘いもの大好きなので、美味しいと食べていました。まぁ、イギリスのケーキなのでこれは仕方ないところ。
The sweet ones were, from the closest - Strawberry, lemon & elderflower pavlovas, Pink margarita possets, Chocolate & salted caramel profitarolls, Pistachio Macaroon (I think)．We had Profiteroles and Possets. The filling of the profiteroles was very sweet and very rich - too much for me - and I didn't like the posset (I think it had yoghurt) so my husband had it. We brought the others. So, I loved all the savouries but not the sweets - but my husband liked the sweets.
スコーンはもそもそして口の中の水分を全部吸い取られ、お茶がないと飲み込めない。外で食べると大抵こんな感じです。スコーンは１つずついただきましたが、あと２つは持ち帰っても食べないので残して来ました。
Sadly, the scones were too dry, you cannot eat it without the help of some drink. This is often the case when you have scones outside homes. We had one each and left the others.
チチェスター店ではまだアフタヌーンティーをいただいていませんが、多分同じような感じだろうと思っています、いつかトライしようと思います。
We haven't tried Afternoon Tea in Chichester one but I'm guessing it'd be similar, we'd like to try it one day.
お値段ですが、１人39.99ポンド、プラスチップで１人44ポンド（9000円）。お高いですが、素敵なホテルだともっとしますし、個人的にはセイボリーに関してはどのホテルのアフタヌーンティーより美味しかったので、仕方のないお値段かな、と思います。お友達と行けば長居してもっとたくさんお茶やコーヒーをいただくと思うので、もう少しお得に感じると思います。
It was £39.99 per person plus tip so £44 per person. It is expensive but it's less than in most hotels and the savouries were better than any I've had in any hotels, so I'm happy enough to pay it. I think if you go there with friends you would be drinking more tea/coffee and will worth more.
