Facing Fears

Today's Bible Reading- Psalms Chapters 53-62.
June's Memory Verse- Proverbs 3:9-10.

Honor the LORD with your wealth, and with the first of all your produce. So your barns will be filled with abundance, and your vats will burst open with new wine. Proverbs 3:9-10 (ISV)

Good morning, peeps. I hope you're well. Our forecast for today: 89°, partly cloudy, 50% chance of rain, winds are from the southwest at 5 miles per hour, and humidity is sitting at 86%.

So. I faced a fear yesterday. Ever since we had to put Cricket down in 2020, taking Gracie to the vet has been a fear of mine. I was scared to take her in yesterday, but I did it. Mom went with me. We took her to a different vet. Her former vet wanted to charge me $100 for a rabies booster and a prescription food renewal. This vet charged me $18. Wow. Nice dude, was in and out. No trying to get me to add on a bunch of tests and blood work. No trying to make me feel like a bad pet parent because I didn't want to pay $300 for extra lab work. No trying to make me feel shame for not wanting to buy 6 months of flea and tick meds for another $100. Wow. It was refreshing, really. Actually, it all happened so fast that Gracie was still trying to figure out what happened after I let her out of her carrier when we got home.

Before you start wondering, the vet has been doing his job for 30-40 years. He's highly recommended by multiple people, but he doesn't have a brick and mortar office. He has a mobile unit he takes around the area. Nice fellow. Quiet.

Of course, Gracie isn't feeling too well today. She never feels well after getting a shot. I wouldn't either. I made her a little fort out of my Sherpa blanket on the bed, and she's curled up in there sleeping. She wants to be in the room with me, but I have the a/c unit on and it's too cold for her. The blanket puts a barrier around her so the air isn't hitting her as much, and she can handle it better.

I got her prescription renewed as well, and he made it a prn refill. That means that it doesn't expire. Yay! I mean, who knows? Gracie turns 17 on Thursday. That's pretty old in cat years. She may not be around next year. That's a really sad thought, but it's a thought I have to have. I have to make myself ready for that reality because it's going to happen one day. I'm going to enjoy her while she's around, though. She's a sweet cat. Spoiled rotten, but sweet. She now knows who to milk for what treat. Mom and I give her nom noms. I give her catnip and dental treats. Pop gives her butter.

Today's agenda. Grocery shopping, ledgers, and Mom has a stack of places she wants me to send money to. I don't think there are any actual bills in there. I also need to find a place that has refills for my pens. I'm using a backup right now, and it's terrible. It's also close to being out.

I'd love to go to Ollie's, but I don't think I'll have time for it today. I'd love to go in to the craft store, but I don't need to be spending any money right now on frivolous things. I have plenty of projects I can work on right now. Once they're done, though--hold up. I do need more yarn for Mom's sweater. Hmm. Well, I can put Mom's sweater on hold for a couple of months. I'm on the sleeves right now. I'll figure it out. Anyhoo.

The grocery shopping will take a while today. I've already put in a pet store order. Maybe we can get the grass mowed today before the rain hits. I don't know. I also need to harvest beans and look at the rest of the garden and give it a water if it doesn't rain today.

Maybe I can help get the lawn mowed if it doesn't rain. It never did rain last night. I was hoping it would. Believing it would. It go dark, the wind blew, I heard some thunder, but it just blew over. Bummer.

Okay. That's enough rambling. Love you all and until next time, stay safe my friends. ❤
