先週土曜日に親しいお友達ご夫婦と一緒にタイ料理を食べに行こうと言っていたのですが、体調を崩されたので延期になり、木曜日に「元気になったから、明後日、どう？」とご連絡がありました。じゃあ、予約入れとくね、と言ったのですが、なんと、なんと、ショックなことにアランデルの「Thai Time」がつい最近クローズしていました（号泣）。ご家族で経営されているレストランで、他のところに１件ともう１件テイクアウトのお店があるようなのでそちらは今も営業されているのですが、アランデルのお店はクローズされています。このお店が唯一ある程度頻繁に行きたいと思えるレストランだったのに（涙）。本当にがっかり。
We were planning to go to a Thai restaurant "Thai Time" in Arundel with our good friend couple but they caught a cold so we cancelled it. On Thursday, they asked us if we wanted to go there this Saturday as they'd recovered so I told them we would make a booking - however, we found out that they had been closed down! This is such a shock to us because this is the only restaurant we like enough to want to go back again and again quite regularly around here. So so sad.
で、じゃあ、どこに行こうかということになり、お互いに考えて昨日また連絡を取り合おうということになったのですが、わたしたちもお友達ご夫婦もここと言って思いつかず、何を食べるかより集まるのが主目的だし、時間がないのでお料理は出来ないけれどちピクニック的なもので良かったら家にいらして、と言っていただきました。我が家にどうぞお伝えしたいところだったのですが、たまたま今日はお昼からフランス菓子教室があっておもてなしをする余裕はなかったので、お言葉に甘えさせていただくことになりました。
So we said we would think it over and talk again yesterday to decide where to go - but none of us could come up with a restaurant we wanted to go to. In the end, our friend told me that it didn't matter what we eat, we just wanted to get together, and suggested we'd go to their house for dinner if it was OK that they would not cook but prepare "picnic at home" type of a meal without cooking. I would have invited them over but I had my baking class this afternoon so I didn't feel I could cope with preparing anything much today, so we took their kind offer and went over this evening.
桃とモッツァレラのサラダやスモークサーモンのディップなど作って下さった他に、コールドミートなどたくさんのご馳走を並べてくださり、色々おしゃべりしながら楽しく美味しくいただきました。キャッチアップも出来て、とても楽しいひとときでした。
They made Peach & Mozzarella Salad, Smoked Salmon Dip and put out a lot of different cold meats and others. We enjoyed everything while we chatted. We had a lovely evening as always catching up with our friends.
