予報通り、２５度くらいまで気温が上がり暑くなりました。ロンドンは２８度くらいまで上がったようです。２５度になるとみなさん、「暑いわね」とおっしゃいます（笑）。そして、この辺りは高い建物がなく日差しを遮るものがないので、実際に外に出ると暑いことは暑いんです。蒸し暑くはないので、ロンドンなどでは建物の影があるので、日陰のカフェに座ったりするのに気持ち良いのではないかと思います。明日も同じくらい暑くなるようですが、この辺りは明後日には２２度まで下がる予報です。予報を見る限りその後ずっと２０度前後、これで「ヒートウェーブ」終了なんでしょうか？わたしはお天気さえよければ２０度程度で嬉しいお天気ですが、夏らしいお天気が好きな人には物足りないのでは。さすがに、これで夏が終わり、ではないとは思うのですが。
As forecasted the temperature went up to 25C or so and got quite hot, apparently it went up to 28C in London and the surrounding area. When it gets 25C everyone says, "Isn't it hot?" - which probably seems funny to those living in hot countries including Japan but it does feel hot because there aren't any tall buildings to give shades. It's not humid so I think it's quite nice to sit in a cafe in shade in places like London. It'll be as hot or hotter tomorrow but then will go down to 22C on the day after tomorrow so just a couple of hot days. As far as I can see on the forecast, it'll be around 20C after that for at least 10 days or so, so 'the heatwave' seems to be very short. I am happy with the temperature around 20C but probably many people would wish it to go a little longer. I however hope this isn't the end of the summery weather.
今日は、クラフトルームだけではなくランチタイムにダイニングルームのクーラーも使いました。ダイニングルームはクーラーを入れなくてもドアを開けて風が入れば凌げる程度の暑さでしたが、せっかく設置したので。
As well as in my craft room, we did use the air-conditioning in the living room at lunch time today. We could have been OK without it if we opened the doors to the garden with breeze but we wanted to use it since we had it installed paying a lot of money! During the day our solar panels are generating the electricity so we don't feel too bad.
今日は、キッチンのドア、全開でした。全開にするのは今日くらい暑くなった時くらいかな。
We had the doors of the kitchen to the garden totally open, this happens only when it's as hot as today, so not very often.
これは今日の写真ではなく先日の写真ですが、やっとお庭の奥のパティオに座ることが出来た日。でも、奥のパティオは暑い日は結構暑くなるので、今日くらい暑くなると家の影になる手前のパティオに座っています。
This photo was taken some days ago, the first day when it was warm enough for my husband to enjoy sitting in the far patio. However, the far patio does get a little too hot when it's as hot as today, so he was sitting in the patio outside the kitchen because it's in the shade of the house.
さて、今日の夕食はメニューを考えるのが面倒な時の定番の、シンプルなパスタ。茄子とパプリカとトマトのパスタにしました。
Today's dinner was a simple pasta, which is my go-to when I could not be bothered to try and think of a menu. It was aubergine, red pepper, tomato & chilli oil pasta. A kind of pasta I love, yummy!
