Ginger, Orange and Soy Salmon Burgers

By alexisknibbs on Jul 24, 2024

Normally this salmon dish we tend to eat at Christmas but not as a burger. We eat this with rice or quinoa. It's so tasty, I love it. The other day I was trying to decide what to eat for dinner. I really wanted salmon and a burger too.

Therefore I thought about putting the two together. I also wanted to add a little bit of spice as well. So I throw in the Christmas ingredients we enjoy eating. These burgers were soft and tender with a hint of spice. Which was so nice! Of course I had to share the recipe with you.

Do you enjoy salmon and if so, how do you like to eat it? Let me know in the comments below and please don't forget to like and follow me.

Gifts from Grandpa is my NEW recipe book – out NOW and available to buy on Amazon for only £19.99. Plus £1 from the sale of each book will go to Crisis the homeless charity.

Equipment

  • Small mixing bowl
  • Fish knife
  • Sharp knife
  • Chopping board
  • Grater
  • Blender
  • Tablespoon
  • Teaspoon
  • Small frying pan
  • Plate
  • Baking tray

Ingredients

  • Salmon x 500g
  • Spring onions x 1 bunch 8 - 10
  • Carrot x 1
  • Ground flax seed x 4 heaped tbsp
  • Ground ginger x 2 tsp
  • Orange x 1 juice and zest
  • Tamari or soy sauce x 2 tbsps
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Method

  • In the small mixing bowl add the ground flax seeds, ground ginger orange juice and zest and tamari or soy sauce.
  • Thoroughly mix these ingredients together.
  • Set to one side.
  • Meanwhile turn the salmon flesh side down onto the chopping board.
  • Put your hand on top of the salmon and carefully slice off the skin from all of the fillets.
  • Cut the salmon into chunky pieces and put into the food processor.
  • Add salt and pepper to taste.
  • Remove the tops and tails from the spring onions and slice into half centimetre pieces.
  • Peel the carrot and grate it.
  • Put the small frying pan onto a high heat on the hob.
  • Add oil to the base and leave to heat up.
  • Once the pan is hot add in the spring onions and fry until soft.
  • Then add in the grated carrot and fry for a further minute or so.
  • Remove from the heat and add to the blender cup along with the flax seed mixture.
  • Blend all of these ingredients together.
  • Split the mixture into four parts.
  • Dampen your hands and take a piece of the mixture.
  • Pat the mixture flat and put a dimple in the middle of the burger.
  • The dimple will stop the burger from rising to much in the oven.
  • Put into the fridge for 2 - 6 hours or overnight.
  • Preheat the oven to 180°C or gas mark 5.
  • Place the baking tray into the oven while the oven is preheating.
  • Once the oven has preheated put the burgers into the baking tray and cook for 12 - 15 minutes.
  • When the burgers are cooked the flesh will pull away from itself.
  • Finally serve with chips and salad and enjoy.
Smokey Salmon Burgers

Ginger, Orange and Soy Salmon Burgers were a so tasty. I actually made these burgers in the morning before cooking them. Then I left one in the fridge overnight and I cooked it the next day for my lunch. It was as tasty the day after as it was on the day. These burgers could be made the day before and store in the fridge. Plus you could make these burgers and store them in the freezer for up to six months. However you decide to eat this dish, as always, please enjoy. Thank you xxx
