Yong tau foo (YTF) is one of my favourite noodles in Singapore besides fish soup. It can be a Halal version using the fish paste or it can be with pork meat. as the filling of the yong tau foo. Today, I want to introduce a YTF stall at Geylang Bahru that offers pretty decent ingredients and sells at a reasonable price.
The only outlet at Geylang Bahru Food Centre, and there is always a long queue during lunchtime. There are reviews about this stall on Google reviews, and it has 4.5 stars which I think is one of the good YTFs around this area. It has both clear soup, dry version, and curry laksa versions, and we can choose the types of noodles too. Their ingredients are fresh, and lighter taste.
Clear soup version
The ingredients included two fishballs, one stuffed tofu puff, and four fried stuffed beancurd sheets. These are standard unless you want to add on the fried bitter gourd and brinjal at an additional cost. It comes with beehoon, I can choose either the thick or thin type of beehoon. I think they serve rice too.
The clear is flavourful, I believe it is the same soup that they used to cook the ingredients. I can freely add the fried shallot and spring onion which can help to enhance the flavour of the soup.
Dry version
It is one of the popular options, and I think most people love its noodles texture, it is cooked al-dente. So far, they maintained the standard of the noodle texture. They used a different type of noodles when we chose the dry version. By default, it is using mee kia.
The dry version comes with the same ingredients but the number of fish balls, stuffed tofu puff and stuffed beancurd sheets. I am unsure whether it is true that soup and dry versions have different numbers of ingredients. However, they added some minced meat on top of the noodles. So, I think it is still worth the price even though the number of ingredients is slightly different. It comes with a bowl of soup too, the same soup as the clear soup. It is the best of both worlds.
Curry version
I tried their curry version too, and it is a rich curry soup and it is delicious too. It looks a little oily but that is what it needed to be, and it has some dried shrimp inside the soup. it makes the curry soup more flavourful.
