Today's Bible Reading- Ecclesiastes Chapters 10-12 and Song of Solomon Chapters 1-5.
July's Memory Verse- Proverbs 3:11-12.
Good morning, my friends. I hope you're well. Our forecast for today: 86°, cloudy, 60% chance of rain, winds from the southwest at 4 miles per hour, and humidity is sitting at 96%.
Saturday was a wacky day. I woke up late. I was crazy tired. Everyone was moving kind of slow. Then the unexpected happened. Mom stepped on part of the bathroom floor and it gave way.
Mom is okay. It was just a small portion of the floor, but it was not a good situation. Our bathroom has needed renovated for a number of years, but Pop hasn't taken the initiative to do it. He's a bit slothful at times, at his own admission. Now, instead of a simple replacing of this or updating that, we have a big undertaking on our hands.
He spent half the morning and part of the afternoon just hanging out in his robe watching tv. Then, when I was getting ready to order supper, he decides to shower and go to the hardware store to purchase what he needed to do a temporary fix for the bathroom. He expressed that he really didn't want to deal with this. He'd wanted to fix the bathroom on his own terms. Those were his words. On his own terms.
Long story short, Pop spent Sunday working on the temporary fix and found that things were much worse than originally thought. The dude who built the house used substandard materials. We're going to have to strip the bathroom down to the studs and redo the entire thing from ceiling to floor.
Part of yesterday was spent looking for shower kits. Boy, are they expensive! I think we finally found one we like. It's over $1,000. That's the sale price! We're going to put in a corner shower. We have a super small bathroom, so the largest shower size we could put in is a 32-inch by 32-inch. It'll be a small shower, but we really can't get anything bigger than that. It would get in the way of us trying to get to the toilet.
Anyhoo. That was my weekend. Not much of a Sabbath yesterday, I'm afraid. I think Mom has had her fill of things. One of our neighbor's cats had her kittens under our bathroom as well. At least two. One died. I think the other either died or she moved it. She had them underneath the tub area. I need to find a way to close off the vent holes so no more cats can get underneath the house. *sigh*
I'm trying to remain positive in thoughts today, but I'm not doing so great. It's a lot to deal with. Mom and I are going to go to the hardware store today and see what kind of shower kits they have available in store today. Who knows, they may have a simple kit for way less than what we saw online yesterday. Maybe someone bought a 32x32 inch shower kit, it was too small and they had to return it. That would be nice.
I know one thing. Where the Lord leads, the Lord provides. The Lord knows this rocky path we're on at the moment, and He'll lead us to the right products we need. Who knows, I may even have fun looking at sinks and medicine cabinets and paint colors! Pop has said he wants a pedestal sink. Simple, minimalistic. That's the goal here. We can get a little storage cabinet for textiles and cleaning supplies. Not gonna lie. It'll be nice to step into a shower and not worry about if the floor is going to fall in.
That's my day today. Going bathroom renovation shopping. Get some ideas.
That's all for now, peeps. I need a shower and to get myself around. Love you all and until next time, stay safe my friends. ❤
