Hi friends, welcome back! This post is extra special because we have some news to share…Baby Hammond is coming in December! We are very excited for this new chapter of our lives and have been taking it easy this year as we await her arrival. It's finally starting to sink in that this is really happening and we've got a lot to do. Between the fall, holiday activities, and getting everything ready, I think the next few months are just going to fly by!
On to my post ๐ I've been linking up with the first blogger I ever read, Shay Shull, for my What's Up posts. Each month I'm answering the following questions:
What I'm eating: I had some delicious food-focused birthday celebrations! We celebrated the day before with my parents and my dad grilled some steak and then we went out for custard and I got my go-to heath flurry.
For my birthday lunch we went out in Ann Arbor to Sava's with Jon's sister and her husband and enjoyed the hummus, bang bang shrimp, burger, birria dip, and fish tacos.
We ended the day with some Buddy's Pizza and Jon's mom made my favorite confetti cake with vanilla frosting.
What I'm reminiscing about: our past European vacations. We missed going to Europe this summer, but it'll always be there waiting for us.
What I'm loving: that the last quarter of the year is almost here! This summer heat was pretty brutal and we've had some teaser, crisp fall days this past week that got me excited for fall. I can't wait to get out all my pumpkins when we get back from our time in Michigan. I thought about decorating before we left, but we needed work done on our unit and I didn't want them thinking I was crazy
Favorite post of the month: Nantucket – Scenes from Sconset, it is such a beautiful area
What I'm Up to: working on my ever-growing to-do list
What I'm working on: keeping the apartment organized as we prepare for baby's arrival.
What I'm excited about: we have our baby shower next weekend and I'm excited to celebrate with our friends and family. We didn't get to have in-person showers for our wedding because of Covid, so we're finally getting that experience of celebrating with people. Our moms and sisters have been hard at work to make the day special for us ๐
What I'm watching/reading: we've been on a documentary kick lately. We've enjoyed Receiver, Sprint, Hard Knocks, Simone Biles Rising, and America's Sweethearts. I'm looking forward to Only Murders in the Building and the rest of Emily in Paris returning too
Books I read this month:
- Look on the Bright Side by Kristan Higgins
- The Seaside Sisters by Pamela Kelley
What I'm doing this weekend: we are flying to Michigan today and heading up north to Petosky, MI with my family for Labor Day Weekend. It will be nice to be out on the boat again and relax by the lake
What I'm looking forward to next month: our shower, fall, football, cooler weather, putting up my Halloween decorations, pumpkin waffles, cider mills, apple picking, and a visit from Jon's parents.
What are you looking forward to in September?
