Corner Pizza Joint is an Italian-American restaurant. Offers American-style thin-crust pizza, whole or by the slice, takeout only. Previously open only for dinner, now open at lunchtime.
Located directly across the street from Troy Kebab, directly across the alley from Sultan Kebab.
After a meeting at YISS, I swung by Itaewon for lunch, intending to eat at Troy Kebab (see most recently 14.281 Somun Chicken Kebab), but changed course when I saw that CPJ open for business.
Prices start at 4,000 for a cheese slice (29,000 for an 18" whole pie, which yields 8 slices); the most expensive is the Double Cheese Burger Pizza at 8,500 per slice (59,000 for a pie).
The pizza was pretty good. The crust was thin, yet chewy. The sauce was properly seasoned, with nice tang. The cheese was unremarkable per se, but nicely browned. Overall, a decent representation of American pizza, certainly better than the Koreanized abominations on the local market (see for example 13.281 Not).
The 18" size allows for folding, the way American pizza should be eaten, especially when on the go.
I'm very pleased to discover that CPJ has a new branch just across the street from the office - stay tuned.
