Ingredients

For the Keto Wrapper:

  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tablespoons cream cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup almond flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder

For the Filling:

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 pound thinly sliced ribeye or sirloin steak
  • 1/2 medium onion, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 bell pepper, thinly sliced (optional)
  • 1 cup shredded provolone cheese or cheese of your choice
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder

For Frying:

  • Coconut oil or olive oil, for frying

Instructions

1. Make the Keto Wrapper:

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the shredded mozzarella cheese and cream cheese. Microwave on high for about 1 minute, then stir until smooth. If the cheese isn't fully melted, microwave in additional 30-second intervals until completely melted and combined.
  3. Stir in the almond flour, baking powder, and egg until the dough comes together.
  4. Place the dough between two sheets of parchment paper and roll it out into a thin rectangle, about 1/8-inch thick.
  5. Cut the dough into squares, about 4×4 inches.

2. Prepare the Filling:

  1. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the sliced steak to the skillet and cook until browned. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add the sliced onions and bell peppers (if using). Cook until they are soft and caramelized.
  4. Return the steak to the skillet with the onions and peppers. Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix well.
  5. Remove from heat and stir in the shredded provolone cheese until melted and combined.

3. Assemble the Egg Rolls:

  1. Place a heaping tablespoon of the filling in the center of each dough square.
  2. Fold the sides of the dough over the filling and then roll it up tightly, sealing the edges by pinching the dough together. If needed, you can use a little water to help seal the edges.
  3. Repeat with the remaining dough and filling.

4. Cook the Egg Rolls:

  1. Heat coconut oil or olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Fry the egg rolls in batches, turning occasionally until they are golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  3. Place the cooked egg rolls on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

5. Serve:

  • Serve the keto Philly cheese steak egg rolls warm with a side of keto-friendly dipping sauce if desired (such as a low-carb ranch or blue cheese dressing).
