無事に、旅行先から今日戻って来ました。今回の旅行は、夫にお友達の７０歳のサプライズパーティーに出席するためでした。1ヶ月ほど前にお友達の息子さんからご連絡があり、お友達の７０歳のお誕生日パーティーをサプライズで企画しているので、都合が良ければ参加してほしいとのことでした。ランチパティーでしたし、我が家から車で２時間ちょっと（金曜日はお天気が悪かったこともあり、３時間かかりました）の距離だったので日帰りでも可能でしたが、せっかくなので小旅行にしようということになり、２泊することにしたのでした。
We got back safely from our short trip this afternoon. The reason why we had this short trip was to attend a surprise party of our friend's 70th birthday party. About a month or so ago, her son contacted my husband asking if we would attend the surprise lunch party fro his Mum's 70th. It was a lunch party and it takes only a little longer than 2 hours to the party place (it took us 3 hours on Friday to our hotel because the weather was pretty awful) so we could have had a day trip but we decide make it a short trip and stayed near the place for 2 nights.
サプライズ・パーティーは、昨日、土曜日のお昼にありました。１時１５分ごろにご本人がご主人や娘さんと到着するとのことで、１時には集まっておいてほしい、とのことで、わたしたちは１時１５分ほど前に到着。ご本人が到着されたのは１時半ごろ。息子さんご家族と娘さんご家族と、お祝いのランチ、と聞かされていたそうです。息子さんご夫婦がパーティーのデコレーションをされていました。参加者は、わたしたち以外はほとんどがご家族、ご親戚の方たち（大家族）で、全員で３０人くらいでした。
The surprise party was at lunch time yesterday (Saturday). We were told to be there before 1:00pm as the main guest will arrive around 1:15pm, we got there around 12:45 and the main guest arrived around 1:30pm. She was told they were having a celebration lunch with her son's family and her daughter's family as well as her husband. When we got there their son and his wife were finishing off the decoration. Almost everyone other than us two were her families, about 30 in total.
サプライズは大成功！で、ご本人はサプライズをとても楽しんでおられたので何よりでした。
The surprise was a big success and the main guest seemed to be very happy with the surprise, which was wonderful.
