It's still Dine Out, so I headed to Basile, formerly known as Da Vinci with Ben and Soph. The food was decent, however the service was atrocious. We probably won't be back anytime soon as that is a huge part of the dining experience. A few things that really didn't sit well was that our server took very long to greet us, very long to bring drinks over, and did not check on us during our dining experience much. On top of poor service, we were missing a dish from both the appetizer course, which came pretty late, and the entree course, which was somehow completely missed. We had to ask a different server to check on the entree because ours was no where to be found. Anyways, here's a recap on the food!
We started with some drinks, Ben's and my drinks were good, Soph's was not good at all. Empty wine glasses were not cleared and we did not get bread for the table.
We got calamari for the table, it was quite good. Ben got the arancini and I got the tomato soup with shrimp. Soph got the meatball, came out late but was piping hot. The arancini was very good, I liked that it was with a fresh pico instead of marinara. Soup was tasty.
For entrees, Soph got the chicken parm. Chicken was good, pasta was overcooked. Ben got the gnocchi with truffle and mushrooms and a side of mac and cheese. Gnocchi was very good as was the mac and cheese. I got the bolognese. I guess I forgot to take a photo. This is titled as award winning. Unfortunately, the entree did not come out until Ben and Soph were pretty much done eating, and we had to ask another server, who sent the host over to see what was missing. Pasta came out undercooked. Manager came over and awkwardly apologized by saying "Sorry about that" and no more. Server was still no where to be found. Before bringing our dessert, our server came and had our check in his hands which we did not ask for. We did not order any other drinks or coffee.
We substituted the dessert platter for the dine out options. Server was supposed to check if this can be done and let us know, never told us so it came out as a surprise, as did the upcharge on our bill. Creme brulee was okay, apple tart was tasty, choocolate souffle was amazing. Overall, decent experience with food. -E
