Start my painting this week and am limiting it to only one hour a day. Thankfully I am not ignoring the timer when it buzzes, so I have gotten three hours done. As strange as it may sound to anyone who does paint get the outlines done and getting the background colour on the canvas is the hardest part of any painting. Marking out the sky, the mountains, the island, the castle, and the water and getting it to scale I actually like and find easy. Even picking out the background colours for each and blending them is fun, but putting them on the canvas is hard. The minute the colours are done for the sky I want to just continue working on the sky until I have it perfect, and it the same with every part I do. I know I can't create the depth if I don't finish all the background colour first. Thankfully that is done and now I get to start on the pure fun and joy of painting. All the details of how I want the details of each part of the painting to look. Kind of crazy how the simple part I find hard and the detail and time consuming part is what I find fun. Right now it doesn't look like much but next week I start turning it into a painting.
