Looking for a fun family itinerary day in Seosan, South Korea near Pyeongtaek-si? This area is beautiful, family-friendly, and fun.

About Seosan

Seosan

As you can see by looking at the included image, when you hear Seosan the speaker or author may refer to either the administrative district of Seosan or the city of Seosan. In this blog post, Seosan means the administrative district of Seosan.

Keeps in mind, our farthest destination was Seosan but we also stopped in locations in Asan for coffee on the way to Seosan and we stopped in locations in Yesan on the return from Seosan.

Seosan is just a little over an hour's drive South West from Pyeongtaek and Humphreys, which makes it a great day trip for stay-at-home (SAHM) moms and dads or single parents, but also for a fun family day. I would recommend the following locations on days with great weather and manageable AQI since you'll spend most of your time outdoors.

If you take the North West route, through Seohaean Express, then you'll likely go through a couple of toll booths.   The South West route, to Cheonsuman, takes a couple of minutes longer but no toll booths.

We recommend using Naver or Kakao Navigation apps when visiting Seosan. Both Naver and Kakao Navigation have English language interfaces.

The Current Air Quality and Weather in Seosan City

Air quality and weather change throughout the day. However, having an idea of what the air quality is right now can help make decisions easier. You can download the Air Matters App for your phone to keep current on changing air quality conditions throughout the day. You can even set up alerts.

Remember that air quality changes around Korea. It may be poor quality in one area and excellent elsewhere. Checking air quality can be a great way to choose where to go, what activities to do when you get there, and when to be inside or outside. It also can help you decide if you should purchase and carry air filter masks for outdoor activities.

Cafes on the way

Travel Notes: If you like to stop at cafes first and you opted for the North West route or Seohaean Express, then Inju Cafe should be on your way, opens at 10:00. Great selection of sweet and savory bakery items and drinks.

Travel Notes: If you take the southwest route; then Dogo Changgo Cafe, opens at 11:00.

Family Fun in Seosan

Travel Notes: We made Seosan Birdland our first stop because they close earlier than Naepo BobusangVillage. Seosan Birdland is open during the Summer (March to October) from 10:00 to 17:00; Winter (November to February) from 10:00 to 16:00. If you live in Seosan, then you may receive a discount, otherwise adults W3,000; Youth, W2,000; and Child, W1,500. I showed the attendant my ARC and was only charged W3,000 total for myself and a toddler. Then we caught a minibus up to the Migratory Bird Museum and 4D Theater. The museum has interactive screen activities for kids, photo zones, a snack & gift shop, and restrooms.

From the museum, you'll have a few options. We spent about 2 hours in the museum and observatory. If we had stopped at the playground and other surrounding areas, we could have spent around 3 to 4 hours here. I chose not to stop at the playground above the observatory because our next destination included both food and playgrounds.

Travel Notes: Naepo Bobusang Village was created in 2020 as a theme park and homage to mercantile culture in Naepo. Open from November to April, 10:00 to 21:00, with snack shops, a cafe, a restaurant, a butcher for outdoor grilling, tea rooms, a small petting zoo, playgrounds, kids zipline, rock climbing, 4D theater, an interactive museum, splash pad, and so many photo opportunities, this was a great place to end our day. Perfect for active kids of any age, also great for a family day. We also learned about the mercantile history of Naepo.

While the sign said that Adults cost W8,000 and Children, W5,000, we paid W500 less for each rate or W12,000 for two of us.

If you haven't eaten yet, then this is definitely a place to go with an appetite and open mind. You can order skewered meats or cooked meals OR you could sit around a designated barbecue area and cook food that you purchase on location. Roasting chestnuts could be fun for the kids.

Dinner Option

Still hungry or need a more Western food fix? Iris 27 is a cute Italian restaurant that you'll love to visit and it's just a couple of minutes away from Naepo Bobusang Village.
