Peeps are synonymous with Easter, so why not try to make some Chocolate Dipped Peeps? They do sell these in the stores now, but I think it'll be fun to make them and use my favorite festive sprinkles on them, too. These are just the cutest thing! Kids will LOVE making these - just forget about the mess they'll make dipping and sprinkling - they'll be making memories. Let's get on with it and some of the lessons I learned while making these.

Here is the recipe as I made it:

Chocolate Dipped Peeps

Melt in 20 second increments in a microwaveable bowl (don't let them get too hot):

1 package chocolate chips (I used semi-sweet, but milk chocolate or even white chocolate would be delicious, too)

Stir until smooth (the chocolate was a bit thick, so next time I'd add a tablespoon of butter so thin it out a little).

Pour into shallow bowl big enough for dipping:

Sprinkles of all kinds, colors, and sizes

Dip into chocolate:

Peeps bunnies (I tried the chicks and it was hard to hold the head without distorting it - the bunnies were much easier to dip)

After dipping in chocolate, dip into sprinkles, if desired - you don't have to put sprinkles on, but they sure are fun!

Let dry on a sheet of waxed paper or parchment paper.

That's all there is to it!

I cut the bunnies apart with a sharp knife.

I cut the chicks apart, and you can already see how hard it will be to hang on to the heads for dipping.

Get everything set up for dipping and sprinkling. The bunnies I dipped about halfway up, and the chicks just up around the bottom. I used a variety of springtime sprinkles.

See how wonky the heads got when dipping? I liked the bunnies better - they were easier to hold on to.

They. Are. So. Cute.

Of course, at the end I had some chocolate left, so I threw in some peanuts, made little mounds of candy, and put some sprinkles on top!

When giving these as a gift (or hostess gift), it might be nice to put them into cupcake papers.

I just love these - they're so cute! How fun would it be for kids to dip and sprinkle these?

Have I mentioned that I love these? And that I think they're so cute?

These were fun to make - and fun to eat! They'd make a nice hostess gift for any springtime gathering. Maybe they'd be fun floating in a big cup of Hot Chocolate (because we still have snow showers here in Minnesota right now). They would even be nice as part of your Easter table scape and/or part of your centerpiece. Best of all - they're just fun to eat! We decided that semi sweet chocolate was a bit firm to bite through, and maybe milk chocolate would be easier to bite. Just remember - they are "plenty sweet"! Any way you decide to use these Chocolate Dipped Peeps - have fun and make some memories!
