テネリフェでの休暇は昨日まで、今日は移動日でした。テネリフェ滞在中、わたしはいつものように朝食は食べませんでしたし、なぜだか夫も今回の休暇中は朝食を食べていませんでしたが、今日は11時過ぎにホテルを出て、ガトウィック空港に向かうフライトは午後2時過ぎ発の予定で、空港でラウンジは使えますが食べ物は美味しくないという情報で、チェックインやセキュリティーなどにどれくらい時間がかかるか分からなかったので（実際にはそれほど時間はかからず、多分、ファーストフードなどで何か食べる時間は十分あったと思います）、今日だけ朝食を摂ることにしました。
Our holiday in Tenerife was until yesterday, and today, we flew home. While we were in Tenerife, I, as usual, didn't have breakfast but for some reason my husband also didn't have breakfast, but we did have it this morning because we were leaving the hotel a little after 11:00am, our flight to Gatwick was a little after 2:00pm and we were not sure if we would be able to have lunch. Although we were able to use the airport lounge we were told that the food there wasn't good (and it wasn't) and we didn't know how long it'll take for checking in, going through the security etc. (All went smoothly so we would have had time to have lunch at one of the fast food restaurants if we wanted.)

I had Banana Waffle. Before this, I also had a small piece of bread with salami and cucumber.
夫は、ソーセージ、目玉焼き、ベーコン。
My husband had sausage, bacon, egg.
予定通りに11時10分ごろに予約していた車で空港に向かい、予定通り30分程度で到着し、チェックインもセキュリティーも問題なく通過し、ラウンジで搭乗時間まで待って搭乗、出発。
As per schedule, we left the hotel around 11:10am by the car we had booked, arrived at the airport in 30 minutes or so, and went through the security without any delay, waited for our boarding time in the lounge and the flight left on time.

滅多に食べない機内食ですが、そこそこお腹が空いていて（ランチでもディナーでもない3時半ごろに出てきました）、夕食は食べられるのかどうかわからなかったのと、メニューに食べられるかもと思うものがあったので食べてみました。3つの中からビーフのマサマンカレーを選びましたが、かなり酸味が強いもののマサマンカレー風の味付けでしたし、ホテルのレストランで食べたインドカレーやタイカレーよりずっと美味しかったです。
I very seldom have any meals on flights, but today I was a little peckish (it was served between lunch and dinner time, around 3:30pm), we didn't know if we would be having any dinner and I did find something I thought I might be able to eat on the menu so I did have the meal. I chose Masaman Beef Curry. It was more sour than I expected but it did taste like Masaman curry and was much more enjoyable than the Indian curries and Thai curries we had at the restaurants in the Hotel.

My husband had gnocchi with blue cheese sauce, which he said was good.
今回宿泊したホテル(Gran Melisa Palacio de Isora) は、ほぼ、「こんな感じだろう」と想像していた感じでした。お部屋は高級感はありませんでしたし古臭い感じはありましたが、広さについては特に不満はないですし、収納も十分ありました。ネガティブな面としてはお部屋の照明が暗く、ベッド脇の本など読むための照明は角度の調節が出来ないので夜遅くなると本を読むには少し暗すぎる照明だったことと、シャワールームが小さくて時間帯によってはお湯が熱すぎて（夫は2度、お湯の温度を下げされなかったと言っていました）困ったのと、シャワールームが狭い上にドアがきちんと閉まらないのでかなりのお湯がシャワーの外に流れ出て、ゆっくりとシャワーを浴びることができなかったこと。
I would say that the hotel (Gran Melisa Palacio de Isora) we stayed at in Tenerife was fine, more or less what we expected. The room decor looked dated and not really luxurious but good enough and large enough and we had plenty of storage. There are 2 negative aspects, though. One was that the lightings in the room were very dim. The side lights of the bed that you use for reading a book at night were angled in a strange way and you could not get the light on the book so it was too dark to read comfortably. The other is that the shower room was very small and sometimes it was impossible to adjust the temperature of the water low enough to be comfortable. I didn't have this problem but my husband had it twice, maybe it depends of the time of the day. Also, as the shower room is so small and the door does not close properly, lots of shower water went out of the shower room and made a huge puddle on the floor of the bathroom, which made it impossible to enjoy taking a shower.
サービス面では、特に良くも悪くもない、と言ったところでしょうか。ほとんどのスタッフがにこやかではありましたが、レストランではあまり気が付かないスタッフも多かったです。
In terms of the service, it was not specially good or bad. Most staff were nice and smily at least but we did have a couple of experiences that were a little annoying as it took a lot of effort to get any attention from any staff in a couple of restaurants.
けれどホテルでの大きな問題は、ここまで読んでくださっている方はお分かりと思いますが、なんと言っても食事でした。夫と、食事さえもう少し良ければもう少しゆっくりしたかったよね、と言いながらホテルを後にしました。
The biggest problem with the hotel was the food. If you've read my blog regarding the meals in the hotel, I'm sure you know it by now. When we left the hotel this morning, we said "We'd love to stay longer if the food were better…".
テネリフェ自体は、やはり可もなく不可もなく。尤も、ホテルから一歩も出なかったので、テネリフェ自体と言えるのかどうかは疑問ですが、イギリスから4、5時間以内のフライトで行けるそこそこ暖かいところ、というと、ここくらいしかないのかな、という気がします。ギリシャでも今の時期は最高気温が15度前後しかないので。ビーチは白い砂浜ではないのでビーチリゾートとはいえ、ビーチではなく、プールサイドから海を眺めるという過ごし方になります。わたしは個人的に海に入りたい人ではないので良いのですが、海で泳ぎたい人にはあまりお勧めできないかも。そして、思っていたよりも寒かったです。最高気温はだいたい20℃前後、最低気温は15度前後なのですが、海風があるので想像していたよりも寒く感じました。陽に当たっていれば暑いくらいかもしれませんが（ほとんどの人がパラソルを広げずに日光浴されていました）、わたしたちのようにずっと日陰にいると長袖のトップの上に何か羽織っても寒いくらいでしたし、夜は軽いダウンコートを着ている人も多く見かけるほどでした。日光浴をしないのであれば、それなりに暖かい服装が必要だと思います。わたしはイギリスの涼しい夏くらいかなと思っていたので、長袖のリネンのトップ、長い丈のパンツ、上に羽織るカーディガンという服装でしたが、長袖のリネンではなく薄手のニットの上に少し厚めのカーディガン、夜はユニクロのウルトラダウン、くらいがちょうど良い服装だと感じました。そして、普通のプールで泳ぐには寒過ぎますが、レッドレベルのプール（２つあったのですが両方なのか１つだけなのかは確認していません）だけは温水プールになっていました。
Tenerife itself was fine, not wonderful but not awful. Having said that, we didn't go out of the hotel so I don't know if we can talk about Tenerife, but I haven't found somewhere warm enough we could get to in 4 or 5 hours, even Greece only goes up to 15C or so. The beach isn't the type with white sands (it's volcanic black ash), so not really a great place for "a beach holiday", it's more like "a poolside with a view of the sea" holiday. As I'm not that keen to get in the sea anyway, it doesn't bother me too much although it would be nice to see the sea with lovely beach. One problem is that I must say it was colder than I expected. I knew it was going to be around 20C highest and 15C lowest but it was colder because of the breeze. If you sit under the sun you would feel hot (and 95% of people were sunbathing) but we stay under the shade so it felt cold. I thought it would be like 'cool summer in England' but with the breeze it was colder. We saw many people wearing light down coats in the evenings. I had a linen top with long sleeves, long trousers, a light wool cardigan and sometimes a wool wrap and it still was colder than feeling comfortable. I would say next time I would take some light wool tops and thicker wool cardigans and a ultra light down coat for evenings. It was definitely too cold to swim in un unheated pool, but the pool (not sure 2 of them or just 1 ) in the Red Level area was/were heated.
それでもイギリスの冬に比べれば随分と暖かいですし、雨も降らず、太陽が毎日顔を出してくれて、曇っていてもどこかに青空が見えているというお天気は嬉しいものでした。
However, it was of course warmer than it is in England and it was wonderful to see the sun and the blue sky every day. Even when it got cloudy, there was always some blue sky we could see.
