借りているコテージから近くの街まで車で10分かからないのですが、道が細くてくねくねしていて、特に夜暗くなってからの運転はストレスなのと、初日にパブで食べた食事が美味しくなかったので、夕食はコテージで軽く食べることにしました。
Although it doesn't even take 10 minutes from the cottage we are renting to the closest town, the road is very narrow and wiggly and stressful to drive specially at night. Besides, the dinner we had in a pub on the first night wasn't enjoyable, so we have decided to have a light meal in the evening in the cottage.
2日目にコーンウォールのデリで買ったチーズ、サラミ類、ポテトサラダ。前日食べたパスティもですがこのポテトサラダも手作りで、スーパーで買うものよりずっと美味しかったです。パンは、コテージで用意してくださっていたもの。家からスティッキー・トフィー・プディングを持ってきていたので、デザートにオーブンで温めていただきました。
Yesterday, we had cheese, salami and potato salad that we bought in the deli in Cornwall with bread that was a part of the welcome pack of the cottage. We also brought M&S Sticky & Toffee Pudding so had that for dessert after warming it up in the oven.
ちなみに、コテージのオーブンは憧れの Aga と呼ばれるオーブンで、このオーブンは一日中オンになっていて暖房を兼ねています。なので、必要な時に温める必要はなく、すぐに使えます。1つは高温、1つは低温、1つはお皿を温める程度の低温度になっています。いつか自分お家を持ったらこのオーブンを入れたいと思っていましたが、今の家にはレイアウト的にむりでした。とはいえ、このオーブンは細かい温度設定が出来ないので、多分わたしたちには使えこなせそうにありません。特にこのオーブンでケーキを焼くのは難しそうです。
Incidentally,, this cottage's oven is Aga, which I always wanted to have. I've always thought we'll install it when we have our own house, but the house we live in now doesn't have space or the type of layout that we can install it. Having said that, I don't know if it's practical for us to have, it would be specially difficult to bake cakes that I bake at my baking class in such an oven.
