I literally just finished this book a couple of hours ago. I spent a longer amount of time reading this book because life happened.
Anyway, this book took a more detailed dive with the Darke, which is not surprising because it's the title of the book.
There are a lot of elements here in this book that will catch your attention. But the one thing that really caught my eye were two things: the acceptance of Marcellus Pye by Marcia and the acceptance of Simon Heap by Septimus.
This book showed just how valuable Marcellus and Simon were. Their knowledge of the Darke proved to be the key to resolving the biggest challenge the Wizard Tower and the Castle has ever faced. I loved how Septimus ultimately forgave and accepted Simon, making their family complete once more. And I love how the proud Marcia Overstrand admitted and accepeted the fact that Magyk and Alchemy needs to stand together to bring the balance back.
This book painted the characters in a whole new light. It showed just how much growth they all went through and are still about to get through. This book makes a very good read. It kinda makes me sad because this is the second to the last book in the series. It makes me want to stall reading the last book.
