少し前に、夫が「ギルフォードの近くでクリエイティブ・クラフトショーっていうの、やってるよ。」と教えてくれました。チェックしてみたら結構たくさんブースが出ているようだったので、行ってみることにしました。１０時オープンということで、車で１時間ちょっとのところだったので、家を９時ごろに出て、１０時２０分頃に着いたと思います。行ってみると大きな会場で、会場の駐車場までの道路は結構渋滞していて、１０分くらいぞろぞろと会場に向かう車が並んでいてゆっくりとしか走れないような状態だったのですごく混んでいるのかと思いましたが、着いてみるとそうでもなく、大きな駐車場の２列目に停めることが出来ました。
A week or so ago, my husband told me he found some information on "The Creative Craft Show" in Farnborough, which is near Guildford. There seemed to be a lot of booths of different crafts and as it wasn't too far for us and we've been wanting to go to Guildford for a bit of shopping we decided to go there. The information said it was opening at 10:00, so we left around 9:00am, got there around 10:20. The road near the exhibition hall was jammed and we had to drive very slowly for about 10 minutes or so, so we were a little worried it would be very busy but it wasn't too bad, we had a slot in the parking lot on the 2nd row.
会場は思っているより大きく、１００くらいのブースがあったようです。そして、思っていたよりもカードやスクラップブック関係のもの（スタンプやダイやステンシル、インク、などなど）のお店がたくさん出ていました。他にはキルト関係、ソーイング関係、アート（絵の具など）関係、ビーズなど色々なブースが出ていて、夫とぶらぶらと１時間くらい見て歩きました。たくさんありすぎて、そして、出ているのは当然英国のお店なのでカード関係のものでもネットで見ている馴染みがあるものは一部だったので圧倒されてしまい、結局何も買わなかったのですが、ただぶらぶら見て歩くだけでも楽しめましたし、夫も結構楽しんでいました。
The hall was larger than we expected, I think there were about 100 booths and found more shops that sell card making and scrapbooking stuff (like stamps, dies, stencils, ink etc). There were also a lot of quilting material shops, sewing related shops, art related shops (like paints, pencils etc), bead shops. We walked around for an hour or so. I ended up not buying anything because I found it a bit overwhelming specially because there weren't many familiar stuff as they are all or mostly British shops and the most stuff I'm familiar are from the US, but both my husband and I enjoyed just walking around and seeing things.
日本刺繍ギルドのブース。日本の方がおられるかと持ったのですが、おられませんでした。メンバーにも多分日本の方はいないと思うとおっしゃっていました。大昔、日本に住んでいた時、香港に引っ越す１年ほど前だったかなと思いますが、母が興味があるというので母と一緒に習ったことがありました。とてもとても細かくて、週に１、２度のレッスンでは遅々として進まず、という感じでした。懐かしい。
There was a booth of Japanese Embroidery Guild. We thought there may be a Japanese person or some Japanese people but there weren't and we were told that the lady we spoke to didn't think there was any Japanese member. When I was still in Japan, I think about a year before we left for Hong Kong, my Mum was interested in trying Japanese embroidery so we took lessons for a year or so. The work is so so fine, after taking the lessons for months we embroidered only a very small are, I remember.
１時間ほどぶらぶらして、近くの街、ギルフォードに移動しました。
After walking around for about an hour, we drove to Guildford.
