Dudu Yummy Restaurant 肥嘟嘟茶室 in Ara Damansara

[Non-halal] Our favourite Penang-style koay teow th'ng stall is back! This stall which closed earlier this year is now operating at Dudu Yummy Restaurant in Ara Damansara.

Previously, we had highlighted Uncle Yong's excellent duck meat koay teow th'ng in this post, when it used to operate in Tien Tien Lai Restaurant.

We were quite saddened when it closed down earlier this year, along with Max's favourite char siew rice stall.

Hence, we were elated to find out that they had relocated to Dudu Yummy Restaurant just around the corner.

Uncle Yong's koay teow th'ng is back in Dudu Yummy Restaurant

Those are live in the area will be familiar with Uncle Yong's Penang-style koay teow th'ng.

For RM9, the bowl comes with noodles, sliced duck meat, coagulated blood, shredded chicken, fishballs, and fish cakes. This Penang-style koay teow th'ng is Ming's favourite in the Klang Valley due to its very flavourful broth (made with a mix of pork, duck and chicken) that is clear but tasty.

We are happy to report that the koay teow th'ng still tasted as good as remembered it. In fact, the stall appears to be more popular despite having only operated here for a few weeks. Be prepared to wait for your order on weekends, but trust us - it's worth it!

The stall also now serves Assam Laksa, which was sold out when we arrived at 11.30am.

Tian Tian Lai char siew lives on!

Max was excited to find out that the chicken/char siew rice stall from Tien Tien Lai had relocated here as well.

The man behind the meat – Ah Wai – honed his roasting skills from his sifu in Restoran Tian Tian in USJ 20 before he opened his stall in this area in 2019.

Ah Wai's char siew is tender, wonderfully caramelised, and sufficiently sticky. Ah Wai uses a particular cut with a nice 50:50 ratio of fat and meat. When roasted, the fats naturally render into the meat – making it super tender and juicy.

Wong Zhi's Ipoh hor fun is here as well

Ipoh kai si hor fun aficionados will be pleased that the famous Wong Zhi's noodle dish from Puchong can be found here as well.

Wong Zhi has a wide network of 24 stalls in the Klang Valley, and is known for its bowls of deep-umami broth and succulent prawns.

We previously tried Wong Zhi's kai si hor fun at Restoran Happy Town in Subang Jaya (see our post here).

Delicious fish head noodle soup

The fish head noodles stall here is new to us - so we obligingly ordered a bowl as it looked pretty good.

For RM13, the Fish Head Noodles hit the spot for us. The broth has a good savoury kick to it with a prominent tang from the sliced tomatoes and pickled mustard green. The fried fish pieces were decent as well.

Similarly, we thought the Char Koay Teow (RM9) here was quite decent. While not the best in town, it had enough wok hei and we liked that it was not too dry nor wet. However, the noodles only came with one prawn.

Summary

Another new kopitiam in Ara Damansara is always good news for folks living in the area.

For us, we were just happy that Uncle Yong's koay teow th'ng and Ah Wai's char siew are back in town!
