None of the volunteers at South of Seoul want to TELL people what the best things are, we want to LEARN what the best places are.
Why do you think we have so many Facebook Groups instead of just social feeds? Sure, we at South of Seoul could crown ourselves kings of the inter-webs and create an arbitrary list of Pyeontaek's best places but that would be boring for everyone. That's why we facilitate a way for the Pyeongtaek international community to decide by voting in the Best of Pyeongtaek poll.

Every year the results surprise us.
Sometimes the Best of Pyeongtaek poll results go against everything we think is good and right in the world. We still publish them and respect them. We just want to love the businesses in our community. However, we do look forward to the many comments about how "It's all rigged" when folks' favorites don't win. Such comments always make us feel like we have a future online because controversy actually helps communities pull together and support each other more.

The Best of Pyeongtaek poll actually uses a voting model developed and used by a variety of papers around the country.
Is it scientific? Nope. Is it perfect? Nope. Is it the best polling system, based on historical models, for our resources for promoting local businesses? YES! Allowing people to vote once a day over a 1-2 week period actually creates a more level playing field.
That said, feel free to get angry about it. Emotions and life are hard right now and we would rather you take your rage out on the South of Seoul polling rather than your family or yourself. If you feel angry about this, let it out. It's ok. It's a perfect place to let off anger at the systems that systemically repress us. (Which South of Seoul might be one, but we hope not.)
My business isn't on the list, do you hate me and my family and wish death upon my house?
No, we do not AND your community can still vote for you by writing your name in.
We simply 1) have a limited amount of time and resources and 2) are human. We did our best to take the larger community into consideration but made a mistake we couldn't predict. Please let us know you want to be on the next Best of Pyeongtaek poll and we will add you to the list.
Additionally, businesses can only be entered into a maximum of 3 categories. The categories are selected by the South of Seoul volunteer team.
