今日から4月、日本はそろそろ桜が咲いているでしょうか。今日は、バルセロナはとっても良いお天気になりました。昨日書き忘れたのですが、昨日はサグラダファミリアを見学してからランチをしてホテルまで歩いたのですが、ホテルに着いてしばらくしたら結構激しい雨になり、夕方まで止みませんでした。バルセロナはあまり雨が降らないようです。
It's April from today! I wonder if the cherry bloosoms are coming out in Japan now. It's been beautiful weather in Barcelona today. I forgot to write yesterday but after Sagrada Familier and then lunch we walked to the hotel, and soon after we got to the hotel it started rain very heavily and didn't stop raining until evening. I hear it doesn't rain often in Barcelona.
さて、今日はいよいよ、クルーズ船に乗船の日。事前に10時40分にホテルから船までのタクシーを予約していたので、ストレスなく（タクシーは少しだけ遅れましたが）船のチェックインターミナルに到着し、すんなりとチェックインを済ませ、クルーズ船に乗り込みました。
Today is the big day! We got on the cruise ship! We'd booked a taxi at 10:40 from the hotel to the terminal for our ship, so it was all stress free (though the taxi was a little late). There was no queue at the terminal so check in went very smoothly and got on the ship straight away.
わたしたちにとって、初めてのクルーズは、ヴァイキングというクルーズ船を選びました。実は、クルーズが大好きなお友達ご夫婦のお勧めでそれほど事前調査をせずに決めてしまったのですが、後から調べてみて、クルーズと言っても本当にさまざまなタイプがあることを知りました。ヴァイキングはクルーズ船の中では小さめの船でお客さんが930人弱、スタッフが600人ほどなのですが、大きな船になると3倍以上の人が乗るようです。ヴァイキングを選んだ大きな理由は18歳以下は乗れないので煩い子どもに困ることはないこと、フォーマルナイトがないので正装をしなくても良いこと。ほとんどのクルーズ船には1週間に1度か2度、フォーマルナイトと言ってディナーには正装をしなくてはいけないのです。わたしは正装がすごく苦手なので、クルーズで苦手だなと感じていたことの1つがその正装でした。そして、大きな船は子供が喜ぶように巨大なアトラクション（プールやスライドなどなど）が設置されていますが、ヴァイキングには特にこれと言ったアトラクションはありません。つまり、比較的静かに時間を過ごすことが出来るというのがわたしたちにとっては魅力的でした。
We chose "Viking" for our first ever cruise ship without doing a lot of research. We basically chose it because the couple friends who love cruising recommended it. After booking it I did quite a lot of research and found out there are all sorts of different types of cruise ships and I was glad we chose Viking. It's relatively small, 930 customers and 600 staff, some large ships have 3 times of them. There are two major reasons we chose Viking, one is you have to be 18 years or older so you will not be bothered by children making a lot of noises and another is that there is no formal night. Usually, there are one or two formal nights in a week on cruise and you have to dress formal and I really hate dressing formal. Also, because there aren't huge attractions that children would love like a huge pool with slides etc so it is nice and quiet.
わたしたちがお部屋（ステイトルーム）に入れるのは午後1時（お部屋のクラスによって時間が変わります）で乗船したのが12時前だったので、まずはランチをすることに。レストランは4つ（うち2つは事前予約が必要、1つはビュッフェ、1つは船が動かない日のランチタイムはクローズ）あり、カフェが2つありますが、今日はビュッフェではないところ、と思い、プールカフェに行きました。バーガーが数種類とホットドッグとサラダバー（あまり種類はなかった）がありました。夫もわたしもホットドッグとサラダを少しいただきました。パスタサラダはあまり美味しくなかったですが、ホットドッグは温めてありパンもフレッシュでまずまずでした。
Our room (stateroom) was going to be ready for us to go in at 1:00pm (the time depends on the class of the stateroom) and we got on the ship a little before 12:00, so we had lunch first. There are 4 restaurants (2 need reservations, 1 is buffet and 1 is closed for lunch on port days) and 2 cafe, we went to the pool grill. They have various burgers, hot dogs and small selection of salad bar. Both my husband and I had a hotodog and a little salad. The pasta salad wasn't great but hotdog was fine, the bread was fresh and warm.
ランチの後、船の中をぐるっと歩いて見て回り、そうこうしているうちに1時になったのでお部屋（ステイトルーム）に行き、早速荷解きをして、ほっと一息。チェックインで預けた荷物は既にお部屋に置いてありました。
お部屋は、ヨーロッパの一般的なお部屋に比べれば広めですし、収納も十分にありました。
After lunch, we walked around the ship and went to our room (stateroom) around 1:00pm. Our luggage that we checked in was already in the room so we unpacked so we can feel settled.
ハンガーが足りなかったので持ってきていただくようにお願いしたところ、スチュワードさんが持ってきてくださり、お部屋の説明などしていただきました。
I needed extra hangers so we asked for them, and the stuward (in charge of our room) came with them, introduced himself and gave us explanations about the room etc.
少し休憩してから、3時過ぎに4時からアフタヌーンティーがある Winter Garden というお部屋まで行ったのですが、今日（ポートデー）はアフタヌーンティーはないようでした。ポートデーには開いていないレストランがあったり、ないサービスがあったり、初めてのことなのでわからず。なので、代わりに、別の場所（エクスプローラー・ラウンジ）でお茶（夫はビール）を飲みながら、ブログ中。因みに、飲み物は、ボトルのお水、お茶、コーヒーは24時間無料ですが、ビールやワインは食事の時だけ無料、他の時間は有料です。
After a little rest, we went to "Winter Garden" after 3:00pm because an afternoon tea was supposed to be served at 4:00pm there. However, we guessed that there is no afternoon tea on a port day, we didn't see any action. It seems like there are restaurants that don't open or servide that isn't available on port days but as this is our first time we have no idea. So we came to another lounge (Explorer Lounge), I'm having tea and my husband is enjoying his beer. Drinks like bottled water, tea & coffee are free 24 hours a day, but beer & wine are free only at lunch and dinner, you need to pay outside of lunch or dinner time.
船の上でのWi-Fiはどうかなと心配でしたが、お部屋ではスピードが遅くて写真のアップロードに時間がかかりましたが、今いるラウンジでは問題なくアップロード出来ています。
I was a little worried about Wifi on the ship and the speed was very slow in our room, but here in this lounge it's faster and it's been easy to upload photos so far.
