この時期はお庭の様子がどんどん変わるので、ガーデンアップデートをしておきたいと思います。フロントガーデンはアリウムはもう終わってグリーンになって来ていますが、２、３週間前から急にキャットミントが伸びて、ゲラニウムもたくさん咲いて来て、初夏らしいお庭になりました。薔薇もたくさん咲いています。ダリアは、お花はまだまだですが茎と葉っぱはずいぶん成長してきていますし、バービナは背が高くなって蕾もたくさんつけていて、少し咲き始めています。（写真は２週間くらい前に撮ったのでこの状態から更に初夏らしくなっています。）

The plants grow so fast this time of year, so some garden update seemed a good idea. In the front garden, alliums are going green but cat mints grew large and full of flowers in the last few weeks. Geraniums are also growing with flowers and the garden is looking quite full and summery now. Roses are flowering well. Dahlias have no flowers yet but the stems and leaves are getting taller and fuller. Verbina are getting tall with lots of buds and some have started flowering. (These photos were taken a couple of weeks ago.)

バックガーデンもアリウムはそろそろ終わりになって来ています。今日は、雨が降ったり、太陽が出たりのおかしなお天気。

The alliums in the back garden are also getting over. The next 3 photos were taken today - it rains, then the sun comes out, then rains...

ピオニーも咲いています。この写真はしばらく前に撮ったので一番咲いているピオニーは満開になり、とても大きく開いて先日の雨で頭が重くて茎が折れそうだったので、切って花瓶で楽しんでいます。

Peonies are blooming. The following photos were taken a week or two ago. The largest bloom has opened up fully and the rain the other day was making the head very heavy so we cut it and are enjoying it in a vase inside.

サルビアも、場所によってかなり成長具合が違いますが、早いのはもう咲いています。

In some area salvias are flowering already, but in some area they are still quite short.

黄色い薔薇は、次々に良く咲いていますがあまり花持ちは良くなくて、あっという間に枯れてしまいます。

The yellow roses have lots of flowers, they don't last long but flowers a lot.

ペンステモンもたくさん蕾をつけているので、そろそろ咲きそうです。去年よりはだいぶん背も高くなっているような気がします。

Penstemon has a lot of buds now and some look like ready to start flowering. I think they are much taller than last year.

サルビア・アミステッドも蕾をつけているので、もうすぐ咲きそう。一昨年冬越しできずにダメになったのがいくつかあって去年植え足したのですが、やはり今回も冬越しできずだめになったのがいくつかあります。去年は暖冬だったので大丈夫だと思っていたのですが、雨がダメだったのかな？

Salvia Amisted also has buds and may start flowering soon. We lost some of them over the winter last year so we added some new ones last year, but again some didn't survive the winter. The last winter was quite mild so maybe they don't like too much rain?

キツネの手袋（フォックス・グラブ、ジキタリス）を去年の夏にたくさん植えたのですが、ほとんどがダメになりました（涙）。今年出て来たのは数える程。その中の１つだけが今咲いています。

We had a lot of fox gloves planted last summer but it seems like most of them didn't come back, we can see only a few of them now. One of them is flowering but the others are still quite small.

プリムラは、可愛らしく咲いています。

These primulas are doing well looking very pretty.

この場所は粘土室で雨水も溜まりがちなのでなかなか植物が育たなくて、紫陽花の向こう側にフォックスグラブをたくさん植えましたが全滅でした。やっとホスタとプリムラが育っていて、明るくなりました。

This area is particularly clayey and often we see puddles of rain, so no plant survived and had been looking so glim - but the hostas and the primulas brightened the area up. Behind the hydrangea we had quite a few fox gloves planted but none survived.

この白い薔薇は去年まではそうでもなかったのに、今年になってすごく育って大きくなっています。

This white rose was small until last year but has gone wild this year. It is a type that grows a lot.

こちらの薔薇は、なかなか育たない。上の白バラとは全然違う種類で大きく広がらないタイプではあるのですが、多分、ここはあまり陽が当たらないのだと思います。でも、咲いた薔薇はとっても良い香り。

This rose is a different kind and is still quite small. I think it did better last year, I guess it doesn't get much sun here. However, it's very fragrant.
