Kantan @ Damas in Plaza Damas

[Halal] Find Kelantanese delights such as Laksam and Nasi Kerabu at Kantan @ Damas.

This restaurant was recommended by one of our Kelantanese friends, as we missed a good bowl of Laksam. We enjoyed both the Laksam and Nasi Kerabu.

Kantan @ Damas

Kantan is new-ish restaurant located in Plaza Damas.

This restaurant specialises in Northern dishes such as Laksam, Nasi Kerabu, Nasi Dagang and Nasi Ulam.

Laksam is yummy

We ordered the Laksam Kelantan Special (RM14.90), which comprises flat rice noodles in a thick, coconut-fish gravy and topped with serunding, sambal and raw veggies.

We enjoyed this as the noodles had a nice substantial bite to soak up the savoury gravy. The serunding was a nice touch to elevate the dish, but we did wish the gravy had a bit more fish flakes in it.

Nasi Kerabu Ayam Percik

We also tried the Nasi Kerabu served with Ayam Percik (RM21.90).

Curiously, the rice was not served in the typical blue colour - which could be the result of inability to get butterfly pea flowers.

Notwithstanding, we thought the rice was quite tasty - especially when mixed with the raw veggies and kerisik (toasted grated coconuts).

The ayam percik was also tender and flavourful, although we appreciate a bit more spice for the gravy.

We also ordered a side of Solok Lada (RM4.90). While it was decent, we unfortunately had a bone in the paste that got stuck in Ming's throat. So please be careful when eating this.
