with DJ and IZ, Mom, Uncle M
At my mother's request, we made a trip to the cabin to help out with yardwork.
As a token of gratitude, she bought dinner at our favorite local restaurant.
No meal at Gogi Nara would be complete without a bowl of ugeoji tang. In fact, the inaugural post on this restaurant in Cycle 3 featured ugeoji tang - "W and I both agree that the dish embodies the one of best ugeoji tangs that either of us have ever had" (see 3.214 Ugeoji Tang). (Interestingly, the post also notes that "we've never ordered meat, only and always the ugeoji tang" - the first meal involving grilled beef would come the following year (see 4.342 Modeum).) Although today's post is only the second time on GMTD to feature the dish, and the 9th to spotlight the restaurant, the ugeoji tang may very well be the one item that I've eaten the most in my lifetime; after all, we've been frequenting the place since my uncle initially built his cabin in 2007 (3 years before GMTD), dropping by nearly every trip, sometimes for dinner but almost certainly for lunch before heading back, and often purchasing additional servings for takeout to be refrigerated at home and eaten later in the week - so perhaps 100 bowls, give or take; the closest runner-up might be the MNM at Jinmi, which caps out at 25 (see most recently 4.156 Mandu).
Incidentally, W has been away on a business trip to London, starting last Thursday, returning next Saturday.
