予定通り、今日から3泊でロンドンに来ています。お昼前にチチェスターのネイルサロンに予約を入れていたので、その後、サクッとサンドイッチをランチに食べて12時半ごろにロンドンに向かい、2時半ごろにホテルに着きました。ロンドンの入り口までは混んでいなくて1時間半くらいで着くのですが、ロンドンの中がやはり渋滞しているのでホテルまで結構かかります。
As planned, we are in London now and stay here for 3 nights. I had an appointment with my nail salon in Chichester just before lunch, so we had sandwiches for lunch afer that and left for London around 12:30pm. The roads weren't busy and it took us about an hour and a half to the edge of London but it gets busy once in London and we got to the hotel we are staying at around 2:30pm.
今回のホテルは、いつもと違うホテルにしています。いつもはクラリジッズに泊まっていましたが、1泊1500ポンド（30万円）に値上がりしていて、流石に3泊で90万円を出してまで泊まろうとは思えないので、他のホテルにしました。St.James's の Dukes というホテルにしました。大通りからちょっと入ったところにあります。すぐ近くにフォートナム＆メイソンなどもあり結構便利だと思います。曇っていますが寒くはなくて、半袖のTシャツに薄いレザージャケットで丁度良い感じ。ただ、本屋さんの中は結構暑く感じました、クーラーが入っていない、または効いていないお店の中は暑いのであまり厚着はしない方が良いと思います。
We usually stay at Claridge's but they put the fee up so much recently and is £1,500 per night (the cheapest), so would have been £4,500. We don't feel it's worth that much so are staying at a different hotel this time - Dukes in St.James's. It's tucked away in a little street turning from the main. There is the main Fortnum & Mason's very near and I think it's quite a good location. Although it's been cloudy it isn't cold so it feels just niche with a short sleeve T-shirt and a very light leather jacket. However inside the book shop we went in felt a bit warm so you do need to be able to take a layer off, it's not a good idea to wear something warm on its own.
こんな小旅行でもどんな洋服を持って来るべきか、とても迷います。お天気予報を見ても気温だけでは実際の体感温度がどんなものなのか分りづらい。ロンドンでは雨が降らなければ結構歩くので涼しめの気温（大体20度前後）でも室内に入ると暑いので、今回は主に半袖のTシャツを数枚に薄くて軽いレザージャケット、夜はそれに大判スカーフという感じで詰めました。ボトムスはデニム、ニットのワイドめのパンツと着てきているワイドパンツ。今日の感じだと、大きく外してはいない感じ。
Even for such a short break, I always feel I don't know what clothes to pack. The temperature shown on weather forecast isn't necessarily enough to know how cold or how warm it feels. It's around 20C so on a cool side but you can get warm because we tend to walk quite a lot in London and insides can be much warmer. This time I packed mostly short sleeve T shirts to wear with the leather jacket I came wearing and a large warm-ish scarf in case we need to walk at night. I brought a pair of jeans, knit wide pants and the wide pants I came in. I feel I got it more or less right so far.
ホテルにチェックインして、荷解きをして、夫が電気のスイッチ関係のチェックをしてから外出しました。と言っても、ぶらぶら歩いて大きな本屋さん（Waterstone)に入ってあれこれ本を見て、喉が渇いたのでレストランの外席で飲み物を飲んだだけ。
After checking in, we unpacked and my husband sorted out the electric stuff, then we went out. We didn't go very far, we spent a little time in our favourite book store (Waterstone), then we had some drinks at a restaurant's outdoor table nearby,
去年の6月にロンドンに来たときはヒートウェーブで結構気温が高く、外席でのピープルウォッチングが楽しかったのですが、今年はお天気がイマイチで（でも寒くはないので外席に座れます）宿泊ホテルの近くには外席があるパブやカフェが見つからないのが残念。
When we were here in June last year, it was during a heatwave so quite warm and was very pleasant to sit at a table with a cold drink and do a people watching. Sadly this time the weather isn't great (but at least it's not so cold so we can sit outside) and also we haven't found pubs or cafes with outside tables around here.
今の所、明日もほとんど曇っているようですが雨は降らない予報です。明日は、お買い物をゆっくり楽しもうと思います。
So far, the forecast says it'll be cloudy but no rain tomorrow, so hopefully we can enjoy shopping.
