We often has bacon and eggs for supper, usually with beans from a can. The reason for the beans is that's what my wife likes. I prefer hash browns any day. Finally, we got to have hash browns, only because we are out of canned beans.
I have had hash browns in to many restaurants to count. They should be a hard thing to screw up but a lot of restaurants do . I haven't gone back to those restaurants for breakfast. Those restaurants for some reason call cubed, potatoes they have thrown in the deep fryer, hash browns. I think deep fried cubed potatoes a type of french fry definitely not hash browns. Shredded potato hash browns are definitely my favourite. I find the best ones at our local restaurant, Salisbury House. As much as I like them I have only made them a couple of times. My wife likes the little cubed hash browns I make. They can be simpler than shredded, except when I make them. I get a little fussy with them, I try to make each cube 3/8 inch square. You can just make small cubes about that size.
3 potatoes in small cubes
1 tablespoon butter
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
3 green onions chopped
Preheat a non-stick frying pan on medium heat. Add the butter, when it is completely melted add the potatoes and toss. I use the chefy flip but just mix them in the butter well. Sprinkle with salt, pepper, onion powder, and garlic powder. Mix well and cook for 15 minutes mixing often. Add the green onions and mix well and cook an additional minute.
