今日は１日曇っていて、夜中に雨も降る予報。その割には気温は高めで２０度くらいあって、むしっとしています。今日は、ペットワースの美容院にカットの予約を入れていたので、その前ペットワースに行く時に良く立ち寄る「Cowdray Farm Shop Cafe」でサクッとランチをして、ファームショップでお肉やチーズなどを買いました。お肉屋さんのお肉も良いですしチーズ屋さんもちゃんとチーズのことが分かっている方達がおられるので近くに行くと良く買います。
It's been a very grey day today and some rain is expected later. However, it's not cold, it has been about 20C and feels quite humid. I had an appointment at a hair salon for a cut in the afternoon in Petworth so we stopped at "Cowdray Farm Shop Cafe" for a quick lunch and a little shopping at the farm shop. Their butcher and cheese shop are very good so we often do shopping when we are near there.
ランチは、夫はBLT、わたしはサザン・フライドチキン・バーガー。サザン・フライドチキン・バーガーは流行っているらしく良く見かけて何度もオーダーしていますが、これまでのところイギリスではほとんどがぱっさぱさで固くて美味しくないので一瞬迷いましたが、オーダーしてみました。割と美味しかったです。まぁ、少し挙げすぎ感はありましたが腿肉だったのでそれほど固くはならず。ただ、コールスローが入っていてそのドレっシグ以外ソースが全くかかっていなかったのが、少し残念。でも、これまでイギリスで食べた中では美味しかったです。どちらも、わたしたちにはボリュームがありすぎて、なんとか完食した、と言う感じ。
For lunch, my husband had BLT and I had Southern Fried Chicken Burger. It looks like Southern Fried Chicken Burger is very 'in' in England and I see it on menu in many pubs/cafe and have ordered quite a few times, but in most cases they are over-cooked, extremely dry and hard and not enjoyable. I did think about it for a little while but decided to try and it was better than many. It was a little over-cooked but being chicken thigh rather than breast it hadn't gone too tough. The only thing was that there was no sauce at all other than the dressing for coleslaw. Still, it was one of the best ones I had in England. Both BLT and my burger were very filling, we just managed to finish them.
