今日は、気温がグッと下がって２１度くらいになり、お天気も曇りがちだったので少し肌寒くなりました。ミニ・ヒートウェーブはもう終わったみたいです。
The temperature wend down to 21C and it was mostly cloudy today, so it felt slightly cold. It looks like the mini heatwave has gone now.
今日は、香港で知り合ったお友達ご夫婦２組とランチをご一緒しました。１組は、ニュージーランドご出身のご夫婦、去年は我が家に泊まりに来てくださいました。娘さんご家族がイギリスにお住まいなので、年の１度くらい遊びにいらしています。もう１組は、イギリスご出身ですが、わたしも数えるほどしかお目にかかったことがなく、何度か大勢で一緒にお食事をしたことがあります。香港には１１年住みましたが、香港を出たのが、もう、１６年程も前のこと。当時、パッチワークや縫い物やビーズのアクセサリー作りなどを時々集まってされていたグループのお友達で（わたしは最後の方にちょこっと参加しましたがすぐ香港を出てしまいました）、今でもグループメールを誰かのお誕生日やクリスマスなどの時にメールを送って近況報告をし合っています。
We had lunch with 2 couples of friends we originally met in Hong Kong today. One couple is from NZ, whose daughter and her family live in England so they visit England often, they stayed with us for a couple of nights last year. The other couple live in England but we've met them together only a couple of times and I met her only a few times, too, so we don't know them that well. We lived in Hong Kong for 11 years but it's already been 16 years or so since we left Hong Kong. These friends used to get together and did things like patch work, sewing or bead accessary making, but I joined them only a few times at the end of my stay in Hong Kong. We still send out emails to the each other (there are 7 of us) when someone has her birthday or at Christmas and exchange updates of our lives.
場所は、我が家から１時間ほどのところにある West Clandon のパブで、「Onslow Arms」。急に決まった集まりでどこか Wisley の近くで今から予約を入れられるところはないかということで、ここには少し前に義弟夫婦とランチをして印象が良かったのでご提案したのでした。お庭も大きいですし、中もかなり広いので、急な予約もほとんど取れると思います。
We went to "Onslow Arms" in West Clandon, where we had lunch relatively recently with my husband's brother and his wife. This meet up was organised in the last minute and the friend who organised it was trying to find a place, where you can book a table in the last iminute in the area of Wisley so we suggested the place. The garden is quite large and inside is very large so I think you can book a table at the last minute in most cases.
わたしは、前菜にフレゴラ・サラダ（パールクスクスだとかイスラエルクスクスとか呼ばれる大きなクスクス）。かなり薄味で、酸味もなかったです。個人的には少しお塩を加えてレモン汁を加えるともっと美味しいなと思います。
I had Fregora Salad (Fregora is also called perl couscous or Israeli couscous). It was OK but under-seasoned and didn't have any acidity, with a little sprinkle of salt and lemon juice or vinegar it would have been more enjoyable.
夫は、トマトとモッツァレラのサラダ。
My husband had Tomato & Mozzarella Salad.
メインは、わたしは前回と同じチキンサテーサラダにしました。今回は、前回のを覚えていたのでチキンに焼き色がついていなかったり串刺しでないこともわかっていたので、びっくりはしませんでした。ピーナッツソース風味のドレッシングがピリ辛で美味しいですし、お野菜も結構たっぷりなのが良いです。食べきれず、少しチキンとレタスは残しました。
I had Chicken Satay Salad, which I had last time. As I remembered it it didn't surprise me that chicken pieces aren't skewered or hadn't been grilled. I like the sauce, peanutty and a little spicy. I also like the fact that it comes with quite a lot of vegetables as well. It was too much so I left some chicken and lettuce.
夫は、ソーセージ＆マッシュ。マッシュポテトは塩味が足りず、あまり美味しくなかったそうですが、ソーセージは美味しかったようでした。
My husband has Sausages & Mash. He said the mash potato wasn't seasoned enough so not very enjoyable. Sausages were good.
デザートは、わたしはりんごとルバーブのクランブル。
For dessert, I had Apple & Rhubarb Crumble.
夫は、前回同様、イートンメス。
My husband had Eton Mess, which he had last time, too.
香港の話、旅行先の話、中国の話。みなさん、何ヶ所かの国に駐在されたのでさまざまな経験をされているので、話しは尽きず。キャッチアップも出来て、楽しいひとときでした。
We talked about many things - Hong Kong, travelling, China ... They have lived in a few places and have a lot of interesting experiences, so we had plenty to talk about and listened to. We had a lovely afternoon.
