Holiao Noodles

Holiao Noodles in SS2

[Non-halal] We first learned about Holiao Noodles when we saw it recommended by a fellow foodie on social media years ago.

We saved it on our list but never got the chance to visit it. Fast-forward to today, Holiao Noodles 优面小铺 had since expanded to a few branches all over Klang Valley.

This includes a new branch in SS2 - so we finally checked it out last weekend.

Holiao Noodles

Back in 2022, Holiao Noodles 优面小铺 started as a roadside stall in Salak South Garden.

It quickly gained a strong following for its handmade noodles prepared in the Hakka style - with the visually-striking green noodles made from spinach.

It always looked so good in pictures - so we were quite excited when it recently opened a new branch in SS2 on the same row as Lorong Seratus Tahun.

This branch (along with six other branches in the Klang Valley) has a really modern interior which makes for a comfortable dining experience. This is a far cry from its roadside stall days (which had since moved into a shoplot as well) in Salak South.

Holiao Noodles serves Hakka noodles

With over 20 years of experience in the F&B industry, the owners here specialises in one dish - Hakka noodles.

Aside from the handmade Hakka noodles made from wheat flour (and the spinach version), Holiao also serves shahe fen (rice noodles) and lai fun.

The Hakka noodles here are topped with minced meat and pork lard, and served with your choice of fish balls, pork balls, fisk kin wontons and sam kan chan meatballs.

There are a variety of sides to share as well - including Chinese sausage, spicy wantons and Hakka braised pig intestines.

Noodles is delicious

Holiao Noodles

As it was our first time here, we opted for the Dry Noodles with Pork Balls (RM9.80) and Dry Noodles with Pork Wontons (RM9.80).

Both the normal and spinach noodles had the same taste and texture - the only difference was the colour.

It was delicious. The pork lard gravy has the right balance of fattiness and savouriness that makes for a very satisfying slurp. The noodles had a nice bite as well and wasn't too dry or wet.

We did wish for more minced pork and crispy pork lard for the standard dish. But this can be remedied with a top-up that costs RM3.

As for the pork balls and pork wontons - both were equally delicious.

For RM9.80, we really thought the portion was quite good as we were able to dine in a comfortable air-conditioned space as well.

While the noodles were already good on its own, Holiao also serves their own chilli oil that can be added to the dish. We could tell that the chilli oil was freshly made as the spices used was fragrant.

We also ordered a side of Fuchuk Fish Rolls which was decent.

Summary

Holiao Noodles

All in, we thought the Hakka noodles here was really satisfying!

The portion was also good for the price but we'll likely add the minced pork for a more filling meal.
