It was nice and sunny during the day and the temperature went up to 25C, but started to become cloudy in late afternoon and it's expected to rain from very early morning tomorrow and tomorrow doesn't look like a nice day.
Today's evening meal was Pasta Peperoncino Japanese Style. Our shiso (steak leaves) are growing tall and large in our garden and my husband loves them so I wanted to use a lot of them so decided to cook this. Shiso grows very well here but they aren't as dark coloured as those you buy from a Japanese store or in Japan, they are also more tender and the aroma is also not as strong. I used garlic, chilli pepper, cabbage, kelp in salt (Japanese) and shiso. I was going to add a little soy sauce as well but the kelp was very salty so I didn't.
I love simple oil base pasta but my husband doesn't, he prefers saucy type with lots of bits. I added cabbage to a normal peperoncino for this reason, but he still didn't love it. He said he doesn't dislike it but he doesn't love it although he did say it was very tasty with lots of shiso that he loves.
The flowers are dahlias from our garden - 3 kinds. I would love to pick more often and use them inside but they have a lot of insects that I really really hate. I use disposable gloves to get rid of what I can from the stems then put them in water so I can clean them better. This way ants that are inside deep in small petals also come out. If I don't do this thoroughly, we find some ants crowing on the table. I see lots of people pick flowers from their gardens and put them in vases to enjoy inside, I wonder how they deal with them.
