Ingredients:

  • For the Sandwich:
    • 4 slices of keto-friendly bread (store-bought or homemade)
    • 4 oz sliced ham (sugar-free)
    • 4 oz sliced turkey (sugar-free)
    • 4 slices Swiss cheese
    • 2 tbsp sugar-free berry jam (optional)
  • For the Egg Batter:
    • 2 large eggs
    • 2 tbsp heavy cream
    • 1/4 tsp cinnamon (optional)
    • 1/4 tsp salt
    • 1/4 tsp pepper
    • 1 tbsp butter (for frying)
  • Optional Garnish:
    • Powdered erythritol for dusting
    • Sugar-free syrup for dipping

Instructions:

  1. Assemble the Sandwiches:
    • Spread a thin layer of sugar-free berry jam on two slices of the keto-friendly bread (if using).
    • Layer with a slice of Swiss cheese, followed by ham, turkey, and another slice of Swiss cheese.
    • Top with the remaining slices of bread to make two sandwiches.
  2. Prepare the Egg Batter:
    • In a shallow bowl, whisk together the eggs, heavy cream, cinnamon (optional), salt, and pepper until well combined.
  3. Dip the Sandwiches:
    • Heat a skillet over medium heat and add the butter.
    • Carefully dip each sandwich into the egg mixture, coating both sides.
  4. Cook the Sandwiches:
    • Place the dipped sandwiches onto the skillet and cook until golden brown on one side (about 3-4 minutes).
    • Flip and cook the other side until golden brown and the cheese is melted.
  5. Garnish and Serve:
    • For a classic Monte Cristo feel, dust the sandwiches with powdered erythritol before serving.
    • Cut the sandwiches in half and serve with sugar-free syrup for dipping.
