Ingredients

  • 20 wontons, fresh or frozen (I use CJ Bibigo Chicken & Cilantro Fully Cooked Mini Wontons from Costco)
  • 4 cups (32 oz. or 1 quart) Swanson's chicken broth or Trader Joe's miso ginger broth
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 Tbsp soy sauce

WW Wonton Soup

Introducing Weight Watchers Wonton Soup: a flavorful and satisfying dish that blends the comfort of traditional wonton soup with the principles of healthy eating. This classic favorite, known for its delicate dumplings and savory broth, gets a smart makeover to align with modern wellness goals. Perfect for a light lunch or a cozy dinner, this recipe ensures you can enjoy all the rich flavors of wonton soup without compromising on your dietary aspirations.

Wonton soup has long been celebrated for its delicious combination of tender dumplings and aromatic broth. However, traditional versions of the dish can sometimes be high in calories and sodium, which might not always fit into a balanced diet. The Weight Watchers Wonton Soup addresses this by incorporating lower-calorie ingredients and smart substitutions, making it a nutritious choice that doesn't skimp on flavor.

One of the key elements of this recipe is the focus on lighter wontons. Instead of using high-fat pork or beef fillings, the recipe opts for leaner proteins like chicken or shrimp, which offer the same satisfying texture and taste with fewer calories. The wonton wrappers are carefully chosen to be lower in fat and calories, ensuring that each bite remains delicious and guilt-free. The result is a soup that maintains the essence of the traditional dish while offering a healthier alternative.

The broth in Weight Watchers Wonton Soup is another highlight, crafted to be both flavorful and lower in sodium. By using a combination of fresh herbs, spices, and a reduced-sodium broth, the recipe ensures that each spoonful is packed with taste without the extra salt. This thoughtful approach to seasoning allows you to enjoy the rich, umami flavors of the soup while keeping your sodium intake in check.

Preparing this soup is both straightforward and rewarding, making it an excellent option for busy individuals who still want to enjoy a home-cooked meal. The recipe includes easy-to-follow instructions and common ingredients, allowing you to create a comforting bowl of soup that fits seamlessly into your routine. Plus, it's versatile enough to adapt to different tastes and dietary preferences, whether you prefer additional vegetables or a slightly spicier broth.

In summary, Weight Watchers Wonton Soup offers a delicious and health-conscious take on a beloved classic. With its lighter wontons, reduced-sodium broth, and easy preparation, this recipe provides a satisfying meal that aligns with your wellness goals. Enjoy the comforting flavors of wonton soup with a mindful approach to nutrition, making every bowl a nourishing and enjoyable experience.
