In the sweltering heat of Singapore, it is always a great idea to have ice cream as it helps to cope with the heat and it also makes your mood happier
After brunch at The Coffee Code, we chanced upon Apiary and were enticed by the flavours they offered. Some of their special flavours include; Apiary which is made of wildflower honey with cocoa nibs, blue milk which is made of milk, blue pea flower and sea salt and lastly Despicable which is banana, walnut and brownie
They have indoor seats for customers to enjoy ice cream in the air-conditioned store. There are limited seats on the 1st floor as the main counter and beverage counter occupy most of the space. We moved on to the 2nd floor which is much more spacious and has many tables and chairs for customers to dine in
We ordered the blue milk with lavender and black sesame with yuzu sorbet. Personally, I liked the lavender flavour as I have a bias against lavender and almost always go for lavender if the ice cream shop carries the flavour. While the best lavender ice cream I had was in France, this version was pretty good with a strong lavender flavour but without the overly minty or bitter taste. My nephew liked the blue milk as it tasted very much like sea salt caramel ice cream but with a more milky and creamy taste. While the black sesame and yuzu were also good, there was nothing too special about them
Overall, the flavours at Apiary were pretty unique with high recommendations for the blue milk and lavender. The environment is quite relaxing and a big welcome in the hot weather
